how come....

Good luck with the awful gearbox.

gearbox is so bad now that the bike is sold...

Arsey Quote... Once the gear lever was adjusted, the gearbox is fine. It's not as butter-smooth as say a GSXR 1000,but is much better than some people seem to report, having not adjusted the lever to suit their size etc

quote taken from here just a few weeks ago...:augie

by the way... this white RC8 is mine...;):P which means it could be for sale...cheap..

Nick,

the RC8 gearbox WAS better when I adjusted it to suit me and the missed gears/false neutrals became few and far between.

Then I rode my GSA for a couple of days and also bought the Ducati SC.

When I rode the RC8 again I had 3 false neutrals in about a mile-I had got used to it ridden in isolation but going back to it made me realise how bad it was,and I was getting embarassed when everybody ducked when I engaged 1st from Neutral !!!

It is/was a great bike with sublime handling and a great riding position-but the gearbox and to a lesser extent the FI ruined it for me.

A mate also sold his RC8 for the same reason.

I read elsewhere on another forum that MCN today slated the RC8,having tested it against the RSVR,Blade and GSXR1000K8.

They said that the FI was truly horrendous-not sure if they mentioned the false neutrals,as I don't actually buy MCN,as they tend to talk shite sometimes.

I hear KTM have been working hard on a new box and it should be fitted to latter 2009 bikes together with the RC8R which is due next Summer.

I hope you enjoy the bike,I really do,but I bet you £20 to any charity that it's gone by Xmas !!
