Hi Guys
I have been looking at this site for a few weeks and have just got my first BMW a R80 st that has been done as a GS.
I am very happy with the bike but like to change the rocker covers to the two part round covers any one know where I can get them.
I would also like to have a small bash plate on the front of the engine does any one sell these or do they have to be made.
My bike has had the forks changed to suzuki forks because of this I think the bike leans over to much on the side stand, what is the best way to solve this I was thinking to add a plate to the foot of the stand.
Also when I push the bike off the centre stand I then have to give the stand a tap with my foot for it to return to the up position is this normal or do I need a stronger spring.
Thanks

Hi - re the rocker covers, google Motorworks and a new place called ebay...:D Don't restrict your ebay to UK.
Bashplate - not sure of your supply for that one.
Yes - put a plate under the sidestand or always park on the right side of the street!
Yes, that's the way the mainstand works. :thumb2

Hiya.

Can you post any pictures up of your new bike.

I'm an ST man really, but do like even those 'converted'.

Bolla.

Looks tidy.

What instruments are you using with that small headlight unit?

Its had some lumps welded on the stand to raise it due to longer forks by the look.

You will probably have to do the same with the sidestand. I think the original ST s/s is aluminium, so will need to find alloy welding specialist.

Re the bash plate, BAMW has had some G/s ones made up that will fit....but the price......makes my eyes water.

Enjoy the bike.

I'm guessing the pic was taken at Alexandra Palace.

THats not the one that I was thinking of but it looks very nice. Get in touch with vern at worldbeaters panniers for an ali welding specialist. Heck he may even be able to fabricate a bash plate...he's usually quite amenable :D

I like that :thumb2

Very 'clean' looking conversion - just the job.

Hope mine ends up like that when its finished.

Are they DRZ front forks.

I like the idea of naked forks but always wonder if the seals would need to be replaced all the time without the gaiters (boots or whatever is the correct bmlingo for them)

A lot of the riding over here is quite dry & dusty.

That is a nice looking ST, very tidy, I have always liked the white/blue paint finish. I think it is time we had an ST picture thread on this forum.....:augie

Hi thanks for replys and advice, as far as I know they are DRZ forks. Am also posting a pic of my dash the lights are fine but the speedo is no good and am looking to replace it with some thing better.
I have a couple of problems with the bike that I would like some advice on.
The first is the gear box or clutch problem.
The bike is fine for about 10 miles or untill engine is hot then the gear changes between 1,2 and 3 become a bit clunky and noisey and some times end up in neutral when changing from first to second.
I have replaced the clutch cable and tried re routing it have set the cluth as near as possible to 201mm and 2mm at the lever and have also changed the gear box oil.
It is still the same.
From what I have read it could be the clutch push rod sticking when hot, if this was happening would I have more play at the clutch lever. The lever still has 2mm play. Can I remove the push rod and bearing with the swing arm in place.
The other problem is with the rear brake and suspension when the rear suspension is compresd the brake comes on, this is usually when carryng a passanger,
Is this a common problem? if so why does it happen.
Can it be fixed by changing the brake rod to a cable.
Thanks
Thanks
