Well I took the GSA out for another test ride yesterday, this time with the standard GS seat, which I found 10x better than the adventure. I just clicked with the bike and had a hoot riding it. The dealer then offered a nice juicy discount and I was unable to resist (although I did for 24hrs)

Hopefully pick her up next Saturday :)

It was neck and neck with the KTM, but at the end of the day I have a soft spot for the boxer engine which I think is one of the best road engines ever made. The KTM really lost out on three grounds: 1) Poor fuel injection; 2)Poor tank range; 3)Uncertain residuals. The Tiger and Ulysses lost it on the test ride.

It will also be nice to have a bike back in the garage. I've been running around exclusively on my 125cc Honda scoot, which is OK for the daily grind, but doesn't inspire much at the weekend:)

Enjoy the new GSA and thanks for all the road tests :thumb2

I,m just selling an 06 GS 1200 and buying a KTM 990 , I paid over £10,000 18 months ago will be lucky to get £7500 now , the GS has become a victim of its own success the used market is flooded with them. the KTM seems to be holding its value a lot better plus its £2000 cheaper in the first place...

Well nows never going to be the best time. I sold my last bike (private) in August and sat things out until there's a glut of bikes and empty dealers then go for a purchase. I certainly secured extra cash with the private sale in summer and saved cash on the purchase in Autumn.

I do hear what you're saying about GS residuals though. I will however worry about in a few years after the bike's earned its depreciation.

Good luck with the KTM, I know for sure it'll be an absolute hoot. Do it justice though and fit the Akras :)

Well done GSmonkey... nice machine :thumb2

Hope you get loadsa smiles'n miles on it :)

Just goes to show how people fit these bikes differently. Both my wife and I used Airhawks on our 1200GS, on long rides, but find the GSA seats far more comfortable and now do not have a need for the Airhawks. It is possible, however, that the more forgiving suspension on bumpy roads is contributing to this though.

I am aware that others have disliked the GSA seats, but I cannot identify with this

Great reviews GSmonkey and welcome back :thumb

:D

New bike today :)

Well picked the new bike up this morning. I think its the first time that I've collected a bike and it not rain.

Staying below 4000rpm is a pain, but you can still have fun. Had my boots scraping down within 100 miles of getting it:D Shod with Battlewings which I've not used before, so will be interesting to see how they compare with the Anakees.

Well impressed with the luggage, it appears bomb proof. Got the inner bags for the panniers as although it looks and feels bomb proof I'm aware they're not waterproof:blast

SLM supplied with an almost full tank, which was quite nice. Was pleasantly surprised that the handling is not really affected with a full fuel load.

They'd put the GPS bracket on upside down and hadn't put any protection on the clamp, so that could strip the paint on the screen brace. Luckily I spotted it when I got home and its sorted.

Hopefully everything will go OK - I'm keeping the BMW Assist number close at hand, as I'm a realist:rolleyes:

My little lad wasn't overly impressed with his dads new toy though:):

That is a seriously nice bike and I can tell you are far more interested than the lad.:D

Look, it's obvious - the little lad is concentrating on the serious job of riding this beast once he can get rid of his pesky pillion :D

Nice bike, mate. Have fun :thumb

GS Monkey...would you mind mailing me details on the deal you achieved on your GSA and the full spec of the bike?

Email - [email protected]

Great looking bike, absolute stunner!

looks to me like he is trying to tell you the gps mount is upside down and could scratch the paint if nit sorted!

Run in :)

Bike has now done run in mileage + gadgets plumbed in. Just needs the first service :D
