My new LC GS

I've spent a bit of time this morning in the garage having a good look round the bike (mother in law is round for the day). There are many considerable improvements over the outgoing model, stuff they should have done years ago, the general fit and finish of the bike and components is excellent. They've put a lot of work into this bike, that's for sure

Mines round soon so, out to the garage I go....

Crud Catcher

Thanks for all the comments guys, it feels weird to finally own the bike after reading so much about it

The tinted screen and Akro are on back order, and will probably go on at the first service, unless they come in this week

We need a crud catcher, and fast for the LC, as the front of the bike is VERY vulnerable to stone chips and road crap.

Now, where are my keys

Soon as i get mine will be looking at making one so watch this space ... hoping for a nice pressed unit ,,,,,,,,,, not just bent ,,,,,lets see
Until then i suggest get some ventureshiels and make do with a semi permanent solution ............

Was thinking of getting the low seat because they both have two positions :
Low seat = low & std height.
Std seat = std height & high. I know I will never use the heig position !

Low seat = low & std height.
Std seat = std height & high. I know I will never use the heig position !

On the previous GS, I think (because I haven't tried the standard seat) there was a big difference in comfort. For me, the low seat was terrible after an hour ride. Lower means less padding with the same cheap material, because there's no other way around. But I've also heard of many people ending up buying an after market seat even in the standard height. Hopefully the LC's will be better, but I doubt it. Comfortable seats are not BMW's forte.

But backside comfort is a very personal matter. I have a friend who is even smaller than me, thin as a toothpick, and with no buttocks to speak of, and he rides a lowered GS with a low seat hours on end without complaining.

I have low seat lowered gs. Have done numerous 500 plus miles in a day Munich to London being I think the longest in one hit.
Just a case of getting used to it.

Yep, the bike came with Next tyres. I've not done enough miles on mine to pass comment yet, but the one I tested the other day had the same, and they were very good. I'm hearing nothing but good reports for the new tyres

At 5'7" I have the same problem. I ordered my GS LC with the low seat, which I know will be torture on the road until an after-market seat is available. We must be extra careful when parking not to pick a left-cambered spot. Especially after filling up The tank, I mean

I hear ya!!!!! I was away with the birds yesterday and parked my 2010 GS badly and nearly gad a hernia trying to get it upright again. i ordered the standard seat. Anybody know if the side stand lean angle is any more upright on the new bike than the TC 2010 onwards model ?

Good suggestion. Thanks. Had a look and found Daytona M Star. Very expensive but they add 6 cm just over 2 inches. Wife said I don't need it but she is not involved in this particular exercise in being ... Thanks
