My New Toy!

In South Africa we receive the R1200gs adv with nobblies on it, did you opt of Anakees?

Hi Mike R - sad question from a shorty but - how tall are you? I love the ADV - but I'm just 5'8" and worry about feet on the ground...anybody else got an opinion on short blokes on tall bikes?? (I know I'm gonna regret asking...but I've heard all the short arse jokes so feel free to vent.....)

There should be a height mark on the wall in dealers, a bit like the one for fairground rides, & if you`re under the minimum height you should be steered toward something more suitable :D

You might find the GSA a bit of a struggle.

I'm 6'1" and use the high setting on mine.

But a mate who was about your height had one last year, and even with a lowered seat, struggled, especially when using it with a full tank of juice.

He's since gone back to a standard GS12.

I did approx 130 miles with Mike today. The new toy is very nice indeed.
I was trying to avoid having a sit on it cos I knew what would happen! Yes I can get my feet down(feck) and yes now I want one.
Can't though having a 50k extension built in Feb.(thank feck).
Mike, your bike has eaten more pies than mine looking at the pic.

Very same thoughts last week on the one that was at the GMEX. IMHO it was easier to get the leg over, fnar, fnar, than the 1150 GSA with luggage. My quote to Dave was bugger, bugger, bugger how soon :o

Absolutely

Having owned the 1150gsa I would agree the 12gsa feels more manageable?

I am even trying to convince myself here. I only sat on it for 5 minutes:eek:

Luverly and exactly the right colour!

I'm 6' with a 31" inside leg and find it a bit of a stretch. Once on the move it is fine and getting 1 foot down is easy.

I've just fitted a sargent seat and bar riser/setbacks to cope with my funny shaped arse and dodgy shoulders but not tried it out yet. In the garage it feels perfect.

BTW the ergonomics are fine, it's just takes time for muscle memory to take over. At one time I had a 1974 Bonnie race bike with 1 up/4 down on the right, and a jap bike. The number of times I locked up the back trying to change gear! Now I have the GS, a normal car and a 4.5 tonne 6x6 left hand drive forward control. CONFUSED!!!:eek :eek :eek

I've got an 06GSA and have lowered Wilbers suspension and the BMW low seat (30" inner leg I think). Can get both feet almost flat on the ground. Lower than my 04GS. Probably a touch too low but just to let you know it can be done.

I specified NOT nobblies as I've not intention of going off the hard stuff, and my first ride on a demonstrator was like a wet fish on ice on damp roads!

About 5 11 in stocking feet. Although I could touch the floor with the balls of my feet with the standard seat on the lowest setting, I can get both feet down with the low sargent, but it is set on the high setting.

Mike
