I personally would never vapour blast without dismantling,it has a knack of finding its way in through seals etc.I suppose that you didn't have the gearbox vapour blasted as you would have had to dismantle it - maybe get it soda blasted as I believe that can be done without dismantling the box ....... is that correct?

Following this thread with interest. Thanks for posting Gadget especially in the circumstances although that does add to the story. Amazing what a difference when it's in the hands of someone who knows what he's doing. Can't wait till it's finished.
The gearbox is supposedly a motorworks exchange unit, which given the dateline of the bike would mean Steve scrimm built it.As everything else is looking so good, it looks like there's been a problem with the gearbox and it's been replaced with a non-rebuilt used one!
Come on Mike, gearbox out, strip and clean to match the rest!
The first question everyone who sees the bike will ask is 'Why didn't you have the gearbox blasted?'

It has been previously blasted but has a bit of weathering as you can see.
At the end of the day a year or so from now you won't really notice it
Off course we could pull it down and blast the casings but this will add more expense to an already sizeable project.
That's not to say it's not bugging me![]()
