My R100GS tale of woe

Rewrapped loom,
Carbs rebuilt, need to get two air cleaner snorkels as they are missing

I haven't got them Mike, I saw they were missing when I took the plastic tank off.

Shame you've been sold a kipper but mikes doing a great job . Loving the rebuild

Don't know about it being a kipper,,,
The other issues aside
But it's a 26 year old bike,it's going to have a few issues:comfort
This is not a ground up restoration, but doing what makes sense as we are at "a point"
So to elaborate, the engine is out, doing the powder coat makes sense.
Pulling the gearbox and bevel apart is a luxury but not needed.can be revisited if there are issues
Again, the wheels can be done at a later date, they have cleaned up ok to be fair.
The chrome was buggered on the forks but I have a decent pair,so it would be daft not to refinish the sliders .
The caliper needed stripping so will be refinished,
Everything removed will be refurbished or just cleaned, new cables, rewrapping the loom, new fasteners etc etc.
It's only what you would do for your own bike if funds, time etc allow.
Will be a lovely bike once it's sorted, and probably see most of us out:comfort

It's in a better state mechanically than my part-ex but that did run!

I haven't got them Mike, I saw they were missing when I took the plastic tank off.

Taking those off was supposed to make them run better. Typical load of bollocks. I was amazed at the difference those snorkels make to the bikes mid range running. It stood out a mile when we tried taking them off on the dyno.

I have a spare airbox top with the snorkels attached if you need one gadget. I'll also be passing very close to Mikeys workshop tomorrow morning if you want it dropping off (i'm sure they're be somewhere to stash it)

Thanks Rob, that would be great if you could do that John:)

££££s solves most problems.

But, indeed, heading for a nice end result.

Not many pics this week but
It's nearly finished awaiting a few small bits, and a nice set of wheels and tyres.
We fired it up before close of play today, all good,:thumb

Saw it yesterday I'm very pleased, got a set of refurbished wheels via Florence (:beerjug:John) and new tyres arrived this afternoon, need some new wheel bearings though.
