Well, between 18:26 and 18:30 this evening some w***ers stole my much loved GS. They had to have been waiting for me as I often stop by the local sainsbury (clearly too often).

This happened in N London. If you've got a GS it looks like they're on someone's menu. I'd just fitted new brake lines over the weekend... It was such a good example, and used daily...

The next one is going to be data tagged, smart watered and alarmed (and parked in the lobby of sainsbury! ). It's only just happened so it could turn up but judging by the speed it went, I doubt it.

One well pissed GSer :-(

Double bastids, Hopefully everythin goes smoothly for ya from here be it either recovery or insurance payout

Any details colour any unique extras?? they might try to shift goodies on ebay feel for m8

Thanks guys. Main idea of posting was to keep you all on your toes. Especially if you're in this neck of the woods as news of 2 going in the last couple of weeks may mean they're on the menu.

Mine was/is black. The seat is non standard, made for me. Head a beemer ali top box. I'd recently replaced the ignition cable and reinforced it with a stainless steel mesh, coveted with another heat proof mesh to make it difficult to hot wire (fast lot of use that was! ).

For all intents they got a minter. Even full of fuel!

Am I pissed? Yep :-(

Unfortunately that's of no use whatsoever. If you know what you're doing you can be up and away in 10 seconds on most BMW's.
I've showed people how simple it is at a few events over the years, and on the ukgser service days that have been held. .

Sorry to hear about that. Where are you in North London? I'll keep an eye out around Camden / Holloway.

Thanks Steptoe. I guess you mean ramming a screwdriver into the ignition barrel?

I'll be in the market for a replacement soon (i don't hold much hope of it turning up). Security is going to be the first issue i deal with...

Far far simpler and less messy than that if you know what you're doing.

Bloody hell. Should be a warning to others.

Is there anything that can be done to make this super easy method a bit harder? I might just pay you a visit when i get the replacement so you can explain to me in detail.

Cheers

Just what I was thinking,

I lock my bike all the time, but without giving the game away on how the gits do it, is there any way to make them harder to start/nick?

See the security switch, the round lock in the middle of the picture (not the big white toggle switch, that's the on/off for a heated jacket supply). It needs a special key to turn it on and off. It cuts out the fuel pump. It's one of three separate "bike disabling" features hidden on my bike. But it'll never stop them lifting it into the back of a van.
