I did the Ring of Kerry last year on a nearly new '14 bike it was so much harder than my '13 bike, halfway round I swapped bikes with my mate on a pan for bit of respite for a few miles. The GS has softened somewhat at 6000 miles but it's not as nice a ride as my '13 model.
Maybe they stiffened them up to help eliminate that tendency to feel at bit 'loose' on the steering when accelerating hard at high speed on bumpy roads, as well as fitting the steering damper.
I put my leg over a lowered GSA yesterday and I was amazed at just how much more compliant the suspension felt even at standstill a huge improvement over my GS.
