Hi guys, I've finally given up with my Schuberth C4 Pro and the Schuberth SC 1A comms. Contrary to reviews and tests I find the helmet very noisy (maybe my one is a Friday afternoon special) and as importantly the SC 1A comms just keeps quitting. The problem is most certainly with the battery connection I think (known SC1 fault). One minute it works, the next nothing will bring it to life. Call me a wuss but I like the voice Nav prompts especially on very long days/stretches of motorway and have become somewhat reliant on them. I've removed the battery countless times, I've packed it out with rubber/paper to hold the battery in position etc etc. Anyway it went back to the dealer yesterday and I've ordered an X-Lite X1005 Ultra Carbon helmet and the N-Com B902 X to most importantly see if it fits. I have a 3XL head, no comments thank-you ;-). The dealer had an XL on the shelf and it almost fitted so I'm hoping the 3XL will be perfect.

And so to the question. What experiences do forum members have with the N-Com 9 series or indeed the X1005 Ultra Carbon. I understand the Comms are made by Sena and will be compatible with my wifes SC1 A in her C4 Pro and my RC4 remote for volume control etc as the Wonder Wheel does not work with any system other than BMW's.....

Stay safe and well.

Tony

Don’t ride through a thunderstorm wearing your carbon lid. LINK

I too have a C4 and the comms. It’s ok but I find it very fiddly and overly complex, not had it cut out yet.

Poor guy, wouldn't have mattered if he's been wearing a ceramic insulator. A direct strike to the head makes it a very bad day, at least he wouldn't know anything about it.

My wifes C4 Pro has been fine. If the X-Lite fits I'll give it a go, it will then be just a question of the N-Com/Sena Comms or maybe a Sena 50R. We will see, more research is warranted. The new helmet will not arrive at the dealers for 3 weeks.

Big T are you really in Vienna ? I only ask as I have an X Lite 1004 Carbon with N Coms fitted. I no longer use this helmet so if were in UK you could have used it for a bit to try it.

Hi Alan, that is incredibly generous of you. Sadly I really am in Vienna enjoying the Alps et al. How did you find the N-Com?

I have used Scala, followed by Sena 10 then the N Com and now back on Sena 20 in a Shoei.

The N com seems to drop the connection earlier than the others but that may be down to it being a Carbon Fibre helmet which is believed to be a bit of a blocker on bike to bike comms.

The mic sits nice, the speakers protruded too much but that's a helmet issue as the ear and speaker cavities are not as accommodation as say a Neotec 2.

Overall in a non carbon fibre helmet I imagine the N com is probably best summed up as acceptable.

For me the Shoie Neitec 2 with the integral comms is right up there with the Schuberth C3Pro with its integral comms too. Both are Sena so that tells the tale.

Best Sena, next Scala, next N com

Thanks Alan, I would have gone the Shoei route, sadly they only go up to 2XL. I need a 3XL....big head by nature only ;-) Louis (bike accessories chain across Europe) here in Vienna have ordered the X-Lite 1005 for me to try. They say it'll take 3-4 weeks. If it's comfortable (always the only test really) I'll buy it and sort out the comms if the hat fits.

By the way N-Com is made by Sena I understand. No idea which Sena model its equivalent to? Research continues. Performance wise I'm not worried about comms with other bikes just my Nav, Phone, Media and of course the boss when she's on board.

Once again thanks for the info.

Cheers T.
