After suffering ringing in my ears after an all motorway return from Wales, I need to do something about the buffeting cause by the 1150 ADV screen.

I've tried the TT additional spoiler with no real effect and can't afford the costly mods of Torbinators or MRE.

Anyone tried this modification?

Never tried it myself as the alternatives weren't really that expensive compared to making a mess of the vents. You could try taking the screen off completely until such time as you can pick up secondhand tobinators :nenau

It wont work like a naca duct because the air will just go straight thru the hole rather than be directed towards the divergent section ( which increases the air pressure).

u may as well just cut any rectanglular/ square/triangular shape and chamfer the top and bottom edges - u will get the same effect, but chamfering the edges may result in strange noises.

as for ringing in the ears.... better earplugs or use earplugs?

I did do this on my old 1100gs screen and it did help with the buffeting, though I felt using tobinators was a better solution for the 1150GSA they maybe expensive, but if set up right make for a surprisingly quite bike, so make it worth the extra money.

IMHO

Iwas considering this mod as the bufferting was quite bad for me, i am 5ft 10 i had to ride with my head lowered by a couple of inches to reduce the bufferting.
The duct seemed too complicated and a bit final if it didnt work, torbinators are out of my budget at the moment.
I took the screen off and set a vernier to 15 mm and used this to scribe a line around the bottom edge of the screen , i jigsawed the strip off and cleaned up the edge with sandpaper, all back together and now i dont get the bufferting sitting up straight, its still very windy but it lets more air under the screen and for me it moved the bufferting away
You wouldnt know its been done unles you compare with another one, if it doesnt work for you it hasnt cost you a new screen

There was a longish thread about NACA ducts over at Advrider quite a while ago,

Phil
I read that one and thought it was a lot less hassle to chop a bit of the bottom, both will get more air under the screen to equal up the pressure a bit more

I must admit that the NACA mod does seem a complex way of getting additional airflow to the underside of the screen.

I'll have a think about trimming the bottom as suggested.

pomm001, what sort of jigsaw did you use? Manual or electric? What type of blade?

Cheers.
