From Dec 2024 Nationwide is upping the monthly cost of its Flexplus account to £18 a month. £5 extra.

You can get very similar cover via https://monzo.com/current-account/max for £17 a month plus the other useful travel benefits of Monzo.
The breakdown cover is from RAC, covers Europe and has no age limit
Travel cover from Zurich. Covers motorcycles but beware, no cover for pre-existing medical stuff and unlike Nationwide, no upgrade path

Monzo do a fee free account if you want a useful account for travelling with no currency commission.

Yes seen that, quite a hike. Had our NWFP account for years from when it paid interest on up to £2k (i think) then it knocked that in the head so i stopped leaving any money in it just transferring the fee in each month to keep it going. I will keep the account going for the breakdown, travel and 'phone insurance as it still amounts to a decent deal at £18. Thing is about the travel insurance is that for years i had to pay an age related extra premium, that's been done away with now that they have changed the underwriter which in effect has negated, at least for me, the fee increase.

Agree that £5 a month extra to £18 is an unexpected hike but still worth it considering, everything it provides pays for itself easily.
Aside of all the perks - European BD cover, WW Travel Insurance, Gadget insurance, fee free currency when travelling etc.... As a member they give you money randomly "Nationwide Fairer Sharer - £100 in June) and great customer service also.
