If you are thinking of fitting a Stebel Nautilus air-horn, the way it mounts means that the bracket has to be substantial to avoid it vibrating and seriously wobbling about.

If you intend to remove the OE horn and mount the Nautilus in the same position it hangs from a single stud (OE horn mount) and has to be supported by the single Nautilus fixing that is on the side. It is the only draw-back to fitting this horn to a GS. No doubt it wouldn't be a problem under the bonnet of a car.

The first photo is mine fitted. If you look to the top right of the picture you can see the bolt on the side of the horn. The bracket is angled so that the horn hangs centrally to avoid being clouted by the forks on full lock and inclined forward slightly to make sure that it doesn't foul the front suspension on full compression.

This photo is the bracket I made.

It is made from 3mm steel, 25mm wide by 85mm long.

It is bent at 45 deg at the horn mount end and 30 deg at the bike OE stud end.

As you can see from this photo it is not visible once fitted.

Colin,

I ran the wires down the right-hand side following the loom through the existing cable ties to the air-box.

The spaces beneath the tank on my bike are limited. I used one of the air-box cover allen screws to hold the relay in place and from there it's a short wire with in-line fuse holder to the battery.

To save working out whether the horn is "hot-wired" or not (as per the Stebel fitting instructions), I can tell you that mine is hot switched, ie the horn button is live and the switch earths it. If you cut off the BMW plug on the wires from the horn switch, the green wire is live and the brown is earth (just in case you don't have a circuit tester).
