Having purchased a nautilus horn from nippys, and having the patience of a saint short term, anybody any advice on how to make it fit :comfort
there are instructions on how to get it working with a 1150 and somebody quoting it does fit a 1200 anybody got one before i say fek it :blast and stick it on my truck:flag

I just drilled two holes in the small lip next to the original horn and fixed it to that. I trust you also got the canbus connection... saves a lot of hassle. Good luck.

Great horn, but try and locate it where water can't get in!!!!

Mike

steve, not sure if you saw this description at the bottom of nippys page

"The installation is rather straight-forward once you get your head around the fact that there IS in fact enough clearance for the horn using the OEM horn location. The OEM metal mounting strip is a bit wobbly but in six weeks and 1,500m nothing has moved. I might fabricate a stronger one when I find the time.

The only tricky bit was the CANBUS connection to the horn: it IS polarity sensitive, so if it only quacks like a sick duck rather than sounding like a fog horn, the wires to the horn need to be swapped. I used a 20amp fuse and fixed the relay to the frame with a cable tie. No wires were cut and I used connectors where necessary so the bike can easily be returned to its original condition. "

might be of help.

cheers

Thanks for the pics two wheel, but mine is a steibel and yours is the magnum :augie
I managed to get it in
Heres a stupid question to some !!!
If i use nippys can bus connector and bang it on to the original horn fitting, does that make the relay i got with it obsolete:comfort:nenau
thanks guys

Use the relay

I am not very offay with canbus, but I would still use the relay. I have mine fitted with a relay with a 20 amp fuse direct from the battery.

When fitting the NN MSX Magnum to the bike, is it necessary to remove the old horn. If so, would cutting of the wires affect the Can Bus system?

let me have your email address I have some fitting pictures I can send you, they may help :thumb2

I love the idea of a louder horn, but in 7 years of BMW ownership I've never managed to hit the horn button in an emergency :blush

I would always fit a relay when using a more powerfull horn. I once did try fitting a single Stebel Magnum using the NN adapter without a relay which worked OK for about a week and then the horn packed up. I now run twin hi/lo Stebel Magnums (139Db same as the Nautilus) with a switched relay using the NN adapter I already had to save butchering the OEM horn connector. Power to the relay and hence to the Stebel's comes direct from the battery.
