Nav 5 doesn't power up in cradle

For best results ( I have the Garmin 590 and had similar issues also changed the battery to fix) charge using AC charger, not usb from pc as this takes an absolute age.
Another tip to save battery life while the unit is off the bike and turned on while you make setting changes or setting routes, I always set it to simulator this seems to preserve battery.

While disconnected from any power source my 590 just seems to die very quickly although you can use it while plugged into the AC. But battery life is a known issue.

590 and Nav V are just re packaged versions of the same device pretty much I believe the Nav V is has more BMW functionality ie bike telemetry.

Had this problem today for the first time since I got the Nav 5 almost 2 years ago. Last used the bike and gps on December 16th went out this morning, put the Nav in the cradle before I came out of the garage, started the bike nothing, it normally comes on straight away, thought the Nav battery might be flat so took it would come on soon after I set off, after about a mile I pulled over took it out of the cradle and refitted it, started the bike up and it came on straight away but took about 1-2 miles before it picked up the satellite. It worked fine after that and worked straight away after I stopped at Vines for a coffee. So I will see what happens next time I use it?
