This is the confirmation I received today. It clearly states that I am receiving the 'cap version'How does one know it's the new CAP version?

Think your experience must have been different to mine. I too was in contact with Garmin on a number of occasions and last November I was put on the waiting list for the long awaited 'cap' versionThere is no ‘survey’ link and you don’t ’apply’
I’m getting the cap touch version after a long process of reporting the faults direct to Garmin and being on their list of people to get the redesigned version, eventually.
Some have returned theirs to the purchasing dealer and therefore not been on Garmin's list.
Are there any other identifiers on the packaging? Can confirm that the screen works with a gloved hand just the same, though this appears quicker and more responsive. On previous ones I’ve had to sometimes press a couple of times and in a particular place.
The part/model number is quite different.View attachment 299138

Just had someone check the part number on the BMW system and nothing...assuming it's either too new or just a part number Garmin are using, seeing as they are putting the BMW Group stuff on as well
My replacement is being sent out today from the Motarrad dealer I bought the original Nav6 from in 2021, so hoping.....
Thanks very muchThere’s a product code

And some “Bods” just prattling on nonsensically because they like the sound of their own opinions.I can see a world of pain unfolding, with some bods thinking that they’ve received the latest units, but it being an older one. Some bods not receiving anything at all. Bods worrying about capacitive screens, because they have read something on the internet. Bods receiving the new unit but something else going wrong in their lives. Some bods thumping on the doors of BMW, yelling “But there’s a bloke who has had his changed”, whilst other bods bang on Garmin’s doors, yelling the same thing. A world of confusion over Garmin’s part numbers and BMW’s part numbers. More confusion over numbers, when bods type out the device’s unique reference number, peculiar to their device alone, whereupon another bod will say that his is different. Some bod, saying he’d read something else on the internet but his mate is saying something different……
This is going to be excellent to watch. Oh boy, am I glad I went for the full and very simple refund.

Probably a wise decision. Trouble is I really like the functionality of the wonderwheel - especially for zooming in and out - so alternatives are limited. That's why I keep my old (second-hand from this parish) Nav5. It just keeps going...Indeed so.
My first Nav VI was faultless. I sold it via the forum.
I then had a second Nav VI, bought originally from Bahnstormer. As soon the device played up, displaying all the frozen screen / ghosting nonsense, I took it back to BMW (Park Lane). Park Lane agreed that the device was definitely faulty and still in its warranty period, offering to replace it then and there with a new one from their stores. I simply said that there was now sufficient news on the internet to show that the Nav VI unit (as a model) was definitely unreliable, so I would like instead to have a full refund. This BMW (Park Lane) agreed to. They took the device back, along with the original Bahnstormer receipt and credited me back my money. End of story.
No world of pain....My replacement is with DPD for delivery tomorrowI can see a world of pain unfolding, with some bods thinking that they’ve received the latest units, but it being an older one. Yes, you’re perfectly correct, Sorry I’d forgotten they called it a survey.Think your experience must have been different to mine. I too was in contact with Garmin on a number of occasions and last November I was put on the waiting list for the long awaited 'cap' version
In early December I received the attachment below.
When I clicked on, I was asked to submit (what Garmin called) a survey which was only 2 questions....my Nav 6 serial number and my email address. I can't put a copy of this on here as the link has expired
That’s the same part number as the one I’ve just sent back which was a ‘refresh’ model, I took this photo before I sent it back. I received it in April 2023 and as said earlier it ran faultlessly until Garmin requested I send it back for the Cap Touch.Sat Nav arrived, new head unit and battery
Has a BMW part number 77528504061
The only other difference to the one received by tspivey is it has 35/2023 - 35/2025 and TW01 DH5 on the same label
It's on a map update after registering on Garmin
I shall give it some stick afterwards and update
Should it throw another wobbly I would probably go direct to Garmin
Garmin have said there is no time limit on replacement of these 6's

Thanks for thatThat’s the same part number as the one I’ve just sent back which was a ‘refresh’ model, I took this photo before I sent it back. I received it in April 2023 and as said earlier it ran faultlessly until Garmin requested I send it back for the Cap Touch.
Week 35/2023 is the end of August, so too early to be the Cap Touch.
My ‘refresh‘ model was recognised on Express as Nav V1-1, the new one is back to being recognised as Nav V1.View attachment 299330
Go to the Garmin UK website and from the left side drop down menu choose Support, then Support Centre and follow the instructions after completing the Having Trouble box. Thanks for that
I did ring Garmin. The guy I spoke to couldn't confirm what BMW had sent to me but reassured me that if it develops an issue then Garmin will deal with it.
I asked for how long, reply was lifetime on the Nav6
Gave me the details of what to do if it goes wonky
I will be giving it some use over the next 6 months.....
Nav is recognised as BMW Motarrad Navigator V1 on Garmin Express
Out of interest, what is the plaque under the battery of the new one from Garmin?

Thanks for thatGo to the Garmin UK website and from the left side drop down menu choose Support, then Support Centre and follow the instructions after completing the Having Trouble box.
The under battery is no different, apart from the part number, they’re all from Garmin, the ones the dealers have access to just won’t be as up to date as direct from Garmin themselves.
The serial number they ask for is the one under the barcode.
Garmin have been brilliant and extremely quick, paying for all the postage by UPS.
I’m hoping this will be my last but who knows.

I fear you're right about the irreversible trend towards phones interfaced with bike screens. The market for those who want or need dedicated separate GPS units is small and shrinking, as evidence by the number of bods on here who are more than happy to go down that route. The whirlywheel thing is very good.
I deliberately kept a Nav V, just in case I ever go back to a bike with one. I may yet mount it on my TFT screen 1600, in place of my XT, though the whirlywheel thing will not be able to control it, just as it won’t control my XT.
I think eventually, everything will be TFT screens, running CarPlay or similar, with bods who want to design bespoke routes (that is very far from everyone) using third party apps, like MyRoute, to create the bespoke routes.
I also need to get back to looking at the BMW Connected app, running on an Android phone. The whirlywheel will work that and the TFT display is good.
