I've been happily playing music from the NAV V's SD card through Autocom etc. I've grown pig sick of Paul Weller.....and the Lighthouse Family....so thought I'd add some music and remove those.....but it doesnt appear to be re-indexing the new music.......and f*cking Paul Weller keeps appearing.....even though I'm fairly certain I've deleted him....with prejudice...

Anyone else have problems with Paul Weller or, more importantly, adding and removing music and it indexing ?!?

I've got 6GB on there - so there's quite a bit....

If it's like earlier garmin devices you need to have your music folder structed / organised correctly for all (files to show right.
I think of the top of my head it's mp3/artist/album).

Deleting music - if your on a Mac, you need to delete Paul Weller, then with the device still connected you need to empty your 'trash' on your mac.

Adding Music - I think the Garmin is more fussy these days. So you need to create a folder called MP3's on the SD card. Then add folders inside the MP3's folder with the artists name. Then drag and drop the albums into the artists folders.

If you want art work to show on the Garmin ask me and i'll give you the full essay!

Not sure of the logic of deleting trash to get it off the SD card of a Nav V connected to a Mac ? The Nav doesnt check trash. I have a folder called Music, then artists under that, then albums under the artist, then songs. They seem to work fine....I just added the 'free' U2 album with some other U2 albums......but when I search for it in Garmin it can't find it :(

I think I'll reduce the stuff on there and build up, see if its just having trouble indexing 6gb of music ? Appreciate your comments/thoughts though, cheers.

Anyone else with experience of this happening ?

I had the same problem when I tried to add one more album to my sd card, I.e. The sat nav could not find it. I resolved this by wiping the sd card and uploading all the tracks again. I do not bother with folders etc. just drag and drop.

Regards
Pete..

It's a Mac thing. When you delete anything on a Mac it only 'marks it for deletion'. So if you disconnect the Nav before emptying trash the file will still be there. It's only when you empty trash the file will be deleted.

Well....I have to say, BigDave, that I read your note and thought "he's crackers....what a load of rubbish...deleting from trash indeed !".

You were absolutely correct though !

Thank god I havent been in IT for the last 20yrs or that would have been embarrassing....ahem. To be fair....I'm a recent convert to Mac's.....but its no excuse.

Thanks Dave - everything now present and correct and Paul Weller has fecked off :)
