Anyone know of any deals on Navigator 5???Even 2nd hand would be good.... Not much point having the twirly wheel and the mount if I dont use it.



It is a rebranded 660 zumo however it has unique firmware to interface with the bikes twidly thing and various other things you can see. The nav 5 isn't the best gps out there but it's the only one that has all the BMW stuff.
You might be right, pretty sure if it isn't the 660 it still fits the cradle and stuff though. Without the bonus features of course.Wasn't that the Nav 4? The Nav 5 is bigger than a 660.
The Nav 5 and wonder wheel does transform the experience. Switching between pages, zooming in and out, navigating music and the data you can configure on the unique BMW pages makes via point distances and times, as well as total trip info, makes it particularly helpful. Nav 5 GPS seem to be popping up on the For Sale pages quite a bit. Worth getting instead of a Nav 4 or Zumo 660.

It's a bit fecking expensive just for a zooming out and in is it not ?
Only time I ever use a sat nav is abroad, £500 quid for something used for ten days a year ? nah, my zumo does the job.

I ride overseas a lot. I like to be able to navigate without ambiguity... I like music too ! The integration with the bike is excellent.
You can keep an eye on tyre pressures, get speed limit warnings, find the nearest hotel/fuel. Take a phone call from your riding buddy/wife.
It really is clever. Once you've experienced it , and if you tour a lot ....you'd be a fan too I guess?

You make fun of Jabbing with a pointed finger but are happy to have the distraction of taking a phone call whilst you are riding.

Thanks to the jog wheel, my hands remain on the bars ...Fully in control. It's up to me not to get distracted , I'll give you that .
Do you talk to a passenger when you drive your car ? What's the difference ?
The quality of the audio is amazing and often if I tell the caller I'm riding my motorbike they don't believe me !
I can fully understand those who don't want phone calls when riding .... but if you are with mates on a tour it can be good. ( We dont like intercoms !)
You should be able to get a nav iv fairly cheap second hand. You don't get the full interaction but why you need tyre pressures on your sat nav when they are on the bike computer is beyond me!
There is a huge difference between having a passenger in the car who is aware of what you are doing compared to using a phone,as you point out people don't know you are riding a motorbike. If I am talking to my passenger in a car they will see I am dealing with a busy junction and there will be a break in the conversation. A caller can't see that and will expect the conversation to continue uninterupted. There have been numerous studies to show just how distracting using a hands free phone is. You might think you are fully in control but the fact is at least part of your attention is elsewhere.
