Navigator IV

Hi All....

Can anyone tell me please if a European sourced Navigator IV also has North America maps installed as standard? If not, how much roughly is it be to purchase the maps and is it then an easy(ish) job to download and install them?.....Alternatively, is the best option to leave the EU one over here and just buy one in the States ready to go.

The Nav IV only comes with European maps unless someone has loaded other maps.
Due to size of the maps it is not possible to load North American maps on top of Europe maps.
Some where in the GPS section here there are posts of how to remove maps from the GPS and save them to your computer as a safeguard.

I would look into the possibility of purchasing a GPS in the States which is loaded with North American maps.

You don't have to remove the existing City Navigator Europe maps.

You can buy a Micro SD card with City Navigator North America on it and insert that into the card slot which you access by removing the battery.

Alternatively, source a copy of CN North America and install it onto a card or download Open Street Map for North America and use that in the same way. From experience, it doesn't much matter which version of the maps you get since the major streets and roads in the US don't change very much over the years.

Erm, don't think that's right as the nav should have plenty of memory. I bought a 660 this year with full European mapping, bought the North America City Navigator micro card and inserted. No problems whatsoever and did the same on my old 550.

A couple of guys on the trips did the same on their Nav 1V with no issues.
