Navman 510 or Garmin quest???

Change to UK

I'm really impressed with the Quest.

An issue I have with it, though, is that I hate the American bint who does the voice guidance. Consequently, the volume's permanently turned down....

Paul

Look at Disc one

You can change to English English!!

Paul, Steve beat me to it but as he says just stick in the Set up CD and choose the voice from there.

I did mine just yeasterday as 'off rowt, recalculating' was getting on my nerves. It's pronounced 'root' you stoopid bint :D

The only downside I have with the Quest is not being able to use it on the bike until the RAM mount turns up (I don't really want to butcher the garmin mount).

Adam :)

looking like the quest is winning my vote/purchase....
....

...now i just gotta find one in stock somewhere :(

Cheer Steve/Adam,

I'm now listening to the dulcet tones of some English bint. Still crap but at least it's better.....;)

(Is it me or does it get a bit repetitive....)

Adam: I bought a Nokia 7650 case from Carphone Warehouse for a quid. It's now cable tied to the cross bar with a 1 & 1/2" slit cut in the back for the aerial. With the battery lasting up to 20hrs, it works a treat - although I've got a RAM handlebar kit & Garmin marine mount on order from GPSW.

I just thought of another plus point: the Quest recharges when you connect it to a power supply (mains or 12v) in the same way as a mobile phone does. This is a big improvement over something like the SP3.

y2blade, click on google.co.uk and type GARMIN QUEST and u will get a few suppliers with the QUEST in stock.

for the time being it has my vote as well. MORE FEEDBACK, though, would not go amiss.

when u think about it, there is nothing in the market with the quest's versatility. or is there?

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT THE HECK IS A 'RAM' MOUNT? i think i have missed something here?

thanks

One other point you might want to consider, I can just feel the larger buttons of the sp3 through my glove, the zoom buttons on the SP3 are smaller and often difficult to operate.
The buttons on the Quest are small and might be a problem with gloves; after all, you don’t want to go off road by accident, trying to get buttons to respond.

Just to muddy the water a little more…
I would take a look at the 276c £447 at Aspid, but you probably need an unlocked MapSource City Select CD as well for detailed mapping and routing.

I know what you mean about the button size, Ebbo. The zoom buttons are very small, but I find that I don't need to operate them as I'm navigating as the auto zoom is so effective. It gets closer as you approach a turn & has the added benefit of attracting your attention to the fact that a turn is coming up. (have I mentioned that I hate the voice direction......;) )

The Sp3 auto zooms to route turns automatically as well, its very good, but when you make a turn to on to a longish section of road it zooms right out to keep the next turn on the screen, I usually zoom back in a few levels to see were I am.
Anyway, if I’m just roaming, not auto routing, I zoom in and out quite a bit to see where I am, I suppose everyone will have there own way of working

cheers all

still cant find anyone with avail stock though :(
