NC 500....lite....ish.

Heading up that way on 14th August for a few nights, I wonder if there is a time when it isn't pissing it down and blowing a gale ? Standing joke in our house when the weather report is on as its always raining but i never seem to learn my lesson as this will be my 6th visit, cant resist the scenery it is truly spectacular !

The coldest winter i ever endured was the August i spent at Strathcarron :D

If you dont like the weather in Scotland hang on an hour some more will be along :D

It can be so strange

We had a week in Dunkeld last easter and dressed for a Scottish Summer ( jumpers and coats) it was fecking roasting hot all week

I've been up here dozens of times and today is the only time I've had poor weather.

You've been lucky ,unless you have gone at short notice when the weather forecast has been favourable.

Fuck me i hope you were joking about August :blast

Day had to be abandoned, got to Gairloch where we had arranged to meet a guy my mate knows, rides a Harley, only has an open facer and not great weather gear.

Various txts were exchanged between the two only to find out the guy had ridden in hideous weather to meet us to say he went to our BnB and we'd been gone an hour , turns out he lives ten minutes from where we are stay

Anyway, today's weather... viewing point at Kinlochewe

I have had some great weather up there and of course terrible and the August i refer to was truly terrible I think it was 2013 and I took Susan as Pillion. It rained the whole week and at Strathcarron ( in August) it was so cold they had the log fire blazing away to keep clients warm

I was actually quite enjoying it but mate is fairly new to riding so he wasn't at great ease but once you relax and change the mindset it can be fine.

Few more from yesterday. Weather wasn’t too bad to be honest. Very windy across the top especially around tounge and Durness, sun was out at Gairloch when we arrived 1800 hrs

Cafe at Kyle of tounge ,very good. Zip wire across the beach at Durness

We are heading home today via Loch Ness, Laggan, Dalwhinnie, Trinafor, Aberfeldy, Dunkeld.

Weather has improved thankfully so may get a pic or two.

It's dry but far from warm, which is probably why Nessy decided to hide.....

From there we went up Glen Roy, 8 miles up and doon a goat track, that'll be the last time in this lifetime I'll do it. Then down the Laggan road to the dam....

Hame.

Summary would be that staying where we stayed was absolutely perfect for daily rides, not big distance days and always a plus b if things go pear shaped with the weather, as it did.

Deffo use the same digs again, for £40 a night with a massive breakfast and bikes parked up in the guys garage along with all his bikes was ace, only thing I'd change about the trip is I'd probably do it in summer next time
