Need to watch yourself chaps...the publicity has attracted the idiots and the plods are giving it lots of attention.....136 mph on the Achnasheen road is one of their captures...

It would be OK if they stuck to 100 plus miscreants, but if its quiet they'll get you for 70's......and 70's-80's is fine on those roads

Wonder how many are "locals" out of Inversnecky on Gixxers etc? For anyone coming from further afield, there are plenty of opportunities further south. Coming home from Dent yesterday on the A7 for example: beautiful road, wide open sight lines and some decent straights. You could say the same for the "old" A74 that parallels the motorway. Not that I am encouraging speeding but it shows a severe lack of imagination to go all that way to get caught!

Is there a "community" on that road ? From memory it's a clear road in the middle of no where and nobody to upset !

Achnasheen section is a long straight bit of road, easy to get carried away especially if you're trying to pass a few tourists. But to get done for doing 70's is taking the piss, hard to be below 70 along most of the Gairloch road since they upgraded a lot of it

I've seen an R-1 doing 175 on the Achnasheen to Kinlochewe section.................. :augie

We've been going north since 2000 and the only police I ever saw past Fort William and Inverness was in Ullapool. Since the NC500 kicked off there's as many unmarked cars in the middle of nowhere as there is in the central belt. Nothing to do with road safety it's just about catching folk.

After hours on the single track / narrow roads the road down to Kinlochewe does seem to goad you into going slightly faster than you have been, allegedly!

Half the serving and nearly all he retired Scottish bike riding police will be very upset at this infringement of their fun. As one once said to me "a perfect place to open it up and let it fly".

NO point complaining, if Police Scotland Scotland weren't seen to be reacting they would be criticised if the serious injuries if not fatal RTC numbers were to increase on those roads.
This was to be expected when the popular bike magazines made such a big thing of the route in question.
Last time I was up near Strathcarron I saw a camera safety van parked just before the level crossing prior to that I had never encountered police North of Glen Shiel

Aye the police are out in force in battenbergs as well as unmarked because there are also some nutters who are fleeing, not only on bikes but all sorts of four wheeled exotica
As a wild life lover it pisses me off when I hear about a go faster laddie attempting to cut a red deer because it stepped out unexpectedly round a corner. Enjoy.

Was over there last week there is some serious hardware on the road these days (Porsche, Ferraris etc.), the locals are complaining that they are getting pulled as well. Common trap is the 40 speed limit in Kinlochewe at commuting time. Its the future as it is such an easy target.
