OK, I have two bikes, I insure both separately so have 2x 5yrs ncd. I change from Harley (carol Nash ) insurance to Bennetts as its about half price, phone Harley, "can you send me proof of ncd please" it arrives...4 years claim free! I phone up and get " sorry sir, it runs until 3/7/16, so you will have to call back Monday and ask again!
This from a company that charges £32 to make a change to your policy. OK I know I could go out tomorrow and have to claim but it's a protected discount and I would have to tell insurance company anyway.
So looking forward to the end of the month when the gs is up for renewal...:blast
Rant over.

the "fashion" at present with these insurance companies is to your set your policy at auto renewal , when you purchase it. so if after 12 months you want to change to another broker, they penalise you to their fee ,which might be £30, as you are defaulting on the policy. You did not click to opt out of the auto renewal which is the default setting.

I have had four letters about this and now a bailiffs letter. Im still telling them to fuk off as well

Ive been given the runaround by Carol Nash when I had a no fault claim. They more than doubled my premium. When I pointed out the status of my protected ncb they said that's right you still have that BUT we are loading you. I moved with my ncb. Bastards. JJH

My Bennets policy is set on auto renewal, but I get an email 2 weeks before with the price at which point there is no cost to cancel. I do note when this is due...just in case that email never arrives mind. Call me sceptical!

this is exactly what I'm saying…so when that email comes and the new quote is more expensive ,,what you going to do ? cancel and leave ? if you do you get an admin charge…for not renewing

My God - they refuse to provide proof of no claims for 5 years when you haven't actually got 5 years no claims? Appalling, disgusting, charlatans....sorry, can't keep this up...what was your point again exactly? :augie

Errrm....did you read the post you are quoting before you got angry? See below for ease of reference...concentrate particularly on the words 'at which point there is no cost to cancel'....:comfort

Protected NCD is a con, you get loaded anyway.

Companies are also capping NCD at 9 yrs to stop you keeping full NCD after a claim. i.e. Say I have 28yrs ncd,(I do) and make claim. I lose 3yrs ncd but still qualify for full even if I make multiple claims I`ll be above full (9yrs) for a long time. So ! cap it a 9 and make me lose full ncd after 1 claim, ergo con me into buying protected, which is a con anyway.

Insewerance scum.

I'm with Carol Nash and had a quite substantial no fault claim and they couldn't have been more helpful.
And my premium went down the at following renewal.

The fact that I have to take up more of their expensive time for them to send out another letter!
They won't send information to another insurance company. Nothing to stressing I know but it's poor customer service in my humble opinion.
Sorry this offends you so much but if the auto renewal is cancelled I would have thought it an easy process to automatically send a notification for me.
