I start my bike in the garage and as I am backing it out and turning it around to get it out of the trellis door often there are engine noises, tapping/rattling sounds that seem to come and then go.
It doesn't happen immediately as you would expect due to a cold start but just comes and goes as I begin to get the bike out.

This has happened virtually from the first day I brought it home and I always figured WTF its got two years warranty to sort it self out.

Any thoughts or am I just a D!ck (answers on a post card please)

Best regards Stretch :)

I think that they all do that - definitely different top end sound to the previous bikes - sometimes I think mine does a little bit of 'clicking' that then goes away and sometimes comes back - seems almost random - only noticed it after starting up - could it be the exhaust valve flapping about until the engine has warmed a bit???????

OR might be the divulging flange separator going through its self flagellation mode.

Side stand?

Not sure if you leave it on it's side stand - If you do for any length of time - the oil drains from the uphill cylinder and sounds like maracas on start up - Recommendation to leave on centrestand :thumb2

I can't ride the beastie without earplugs....she's still rattling at 56k....

Like a DALEK having a wank in a dustbin..*

Its always been on its centre stand when it comes out the garage.

I find my 2010 Gsa much quieter than my previous 06 Gsa...

...which did sound like Mr K's Dalek on start up!

I think the rattles and clicking is all part of the 'character' of the 1200's, and nothing to worry about. :thumb2

Does the noise abate when you pull in the clutch ??

If so, its simply the endfloat on the gearbox shafts as they spin when in neutral (as they are unloaded) and absolutely typical hence nothing to worry about.
