I seem to have misplaced my workshop CD, so can't look this up.

I've just cleaned my calipers and when putting them back, I can't remember how to route the ABS sensor cable. I've put it between the caliper and the forks, just below the top mouting bolt. If I remember you've got to do this to avoid the cable being worn on the rotating disc - is this correct??

Also is there a torque value for the pad pins??

Cheers :beerjug:

The picture of the cable routing given by Pressurized is completely WRONG and very dangerous as the cable can rub on the disk be cut, cause the abs system to malfunction and lead to no brakes whatsoever . The cable must be run in between the caliper bolts. I cant find a pic just now to show exactly what I mean but if I do I'll post it asap.
Did you have your bike seviced by a NE BMW dealer by any chance ?

..yes that's what I thought. Glad my post helped you out pressurized....thaks for the torque setting.

Cant find the pic just now. There was some posting about this some time ago - but I cant find them either. Trust me I'm not making this up. The cable should be run between the caliper and the fork leg just below the top caliper bolt.
Where is Mouse when you need him!

Mine looks like this, which I think is correct:

Sorry! I've had a busy weekend fitting a Hawker battery to my 1200 :)

I reckon GSMonkey's picture is correct, as others have said - that's how mine has been since it came from the factory.

Indeed, I checked with a mate with a brand new GS and his is the same as Monkey's and, as from yesterday lunchtime, mine too!

Monkey, you may not have learned anything from your post but I have! I owe you one, mate! :beerjug:

If you take it to a NE Dealer for the brake check, and the sensor cable is in the "naughty" but original position, it won't be re-routed. "You can do it yourself if you wish" :( All of the newer ones are supplied with the cable routed as Cestria intimated, but with a clip instead of the tie wrap to located it - looks much better. :)

I was afraid this would pop up again..

The correct way to route the cable is to have it lodged between the two caliper bolts. PLEASE PLEASE CHECK ON ALL GS' THAT YOU SEE! You might save someone's life!
