Neck curtains

Tried one once. It was crap. It slipped off the helmet randomly. More importantly, it felt incredibly claustrophobic.

If you've got your buffeting sorted but its still noisy, try some teeny weeny adjustments of the screen angle to see if it makes a difference. Just either side of the "sweet spot" there is a zone where the buffeting frequency is increased but strength of buffeting is reduced, so you get less buffeting but can get a thrumming noise. A tweak up or down usually sorts this.

Otherwise, the snotty green earplugs are the best!

i had one on my winter lid, great, but i did have to glue it on, as it did keep coming off, makes it really warm in your lid.

Got one - don't use it. Stayed on OK, but was a p-in-the-a when it came to taking the helmet on and off - kept making the buckle stick in my head etc etc.

Just about worth it for long journeys on really cold days, but that was it.

was effective at cutting down noise but it just didnt stay put. Even after i put a band of insulatiing tape around to stop it coming down it soon broke away again.

I think the idea of stopping the updraft is a good one though. I tried a thin balaclava with extra fabric sewn into the neck area (a sock does the job) so that when you put your lid on it creates a wind proof block all round your neck - - helps reduce wind noise a lot. Also try shoving your ear plugs further in! - i'm not joking.

Just get yourself a winter Buff, the one with the added fleece-type bit for your neck.

About £15 last time I bought one.

The CD that comes with it has to be watched about a dozen times to master all the different ways you can wear it.

Anyone had any experience of aftermarket 'Helmet Skirts' such as this http://www.thefastone.co.uk/proddetail.asp?prod=HSKIRT ? Having sorted the buffeting on my 1150GS with tobinators, I'm looking to reduce the noise in my helmet now... ;)

I used to use one but as commented above it did come un-attached at times - but it really did reduce wind noise significantly. Two other problems were that it could be a bit hot in the summer and on wet days the rain tracked along it and ran down ya neck. That said I am suprized helmet manufacturers don't make a "built in" but detachable version.

;)

Beef Curtains - Just the very thought is enough to keep you warm :D :D
