OK. To be honest I don't normally ask this type of question but I'm stumped. Took a pillion passenger yesterday for the first time in a few weeks. Even at walking pace with the clutch in I had creaking sounds coming from the back end of the bike. Fine solo, so asked the pillion to get back on, noise returned. Spun the wheel when on the center stand, all sounds good. Paranoia set in so took the Triumph instead. Back out in the garage this AM still can't find owt wrong. Before I tear down the back end (again!!!) any ideas?

Cheers.

Was the pillion your regular pillion, or a heavier version.

Mono or Paralever? You have got a collection of things, paralever pivot bearings or UJ on a para, dry splines on a mono?? Probably not that difficult to work out of fix...

I just finished the extended rebuild. I checked everything as I put it back together. It sounds like the rear wheel bearing when the wheels are turning. Walking pace, clutch in, engine off. Splines were lubed when I put it together, wobble box bearings replaced 10k ago. No play in the shaft UJs but one of the UJ bearings was very slightly stiff but really only slighty. Solo it's all fine but it means that something has to be on the way out. If it was the shaft surely it should be the same solo? No? Makes no difference if we bounce up and down moving along just sounds kinda graunchy. Moving the rear wheel back and forth there is a small clung each time you change direction of rotation but I have spare wobble box that I know it is good and that makes almost the same noise considering it doesn't have a wheel attached. I guess I will have to get the tools out again (groan). Bollox.
