When travelling I carry a large 15" laptop for route planning with Mapsource onto BMW Nav IV, storing and editing video and photos, checking emails, booking accommodation and general surfing using hotel/B&B wifi.

Has anybody got any suggestions for a smaller Netbook/Ipad that would meet my needs but save on space and weight?

Regards

Mapsource or Basecamp wont work on the iPad, suggest a smaller laptop. :thumb

Samsung N10 notebook is a cracking and tough little unit. Mine's done the TAT and Alaska 3 times with no problems:thumby:

Ditto, the Samusung N10 is ideal for this. A bit slow for Basecamp but it does the job.

I have a car charger lead for mine so can charge on the bike for use at the campsite in the evening. Set my phone up as a WiFi hotspot and you're good to go for browsing, email etc. as well. I have a option with Vodafone that gives me my home tariff across Europe for £2.50 a day meaning that the fear of data roaming charges are a thing of the past.

the EU has decided that data roaming charges are supposed to be abolished next year.

+1 for Samsung, I have a 4 year old NC10 with built in simcard slot so getting on line is no problem, have to say it is a cracking bit of kit, ok its old but it still works fine, I shoved in a big SSD and it has enough room for, all maps for garmin etc, backing up photographs, audio books and music for my Ipod and films, Its still my preferred long distance travelling companion. And charges off the bike as well

Can you get 12v chargers for these? I'm looking for something to take on my Scoots trip that I can charge from the C90's system.

Forget my question. The answer was there all along! :blast
