Never using 1st gear on my R1200GS - advice?

i've never used first gear on your bike, no problem that i can detect :)

Some might say the inclusion of a 1st gear might suggest it to have a purpose. Bah! I say to them, I personally never use 4th, they should remove it, perhaps replace it with a nice sandwich as I often get hungry on long journeys. Yes, a nice sandwich.

To be serious though. A roast beef sandwich.

Two things:

1. I am now clear that if I keep pulling away in 2nd then I will wear out my clutch and become poor. So I'll revert to using 1st gear.

2. It's an '04 model I've got (not 1994), typo from me

Thanks for all the input and apologies if, being new to the forum, I posted a 'muppet-like' question.

I think most at some point have posted a numpty question, I know I have, several times :blast:augie After all, a lot of folk are not qualified mechanics, and do not want to get involved in mechanics and just enjoy the shear pleasure of riding a motorbike. I think some on here think if you can't strip a bike down and rebuild it you're a moron :toungincheek ;)
The usual folk will mock you and you just have to take it on the chin. It's full of comdedians on here  ;) If you sift through enough of the replies you will inevitably find the answer you want :thumb2

Lol. I have to say though that the OP's question beats any of mine hands down :bow ;)

You think so???:D

Heh Heh, Snerkers, I remember you asking how people got water out of their air cooling fins after they'd washed their bike ...... :bounce1

(I have course have never posted anything remotely stupid ...... :augie)

That was one of my better ones, along with the black plastic thingy :augie

I do still have trouble getting the water out of the fins, but refuse to use the leafblower technique ;)
