Hi,
I have a new GS and have a couple of questions please:

There is a black metal T-shape bracket in the document pack, along with a largeish o-ring, what are they for?

The rear frame under the rear seat by the pannier rails does not have any R1200GS stickers like I have seen on other bikes, should it have been delivered with some?

Will the bars take a one inch set of risers without needing a longer brake line? it looks tight!

Regards

If you remove your front seat, you will find that the T shaped bracket can be screwed in a vertical position immediately below the rear of the tank and it is used to hold your manual with the rubber band!

Someone will be on here soon to tell you that you should mount your Autocom here instead!!

Welcome to GS ownership, pity about the colour tho...............

Hi Eng, I picked up my 12GS 4 months ago & have just returned from my 1st ride overseas on it. What a great tool it is.

I've added....

a taller/wider screen (Givi)
a fender extenda to the front mudguard
a Givi rack to take my back box

Together with GPS, the std panniers & a tail pack on the rear seat (& heated grips :thumb ) it will tour with ease.

After 2229 miles in 2 weeks it took about 5 hours to clean it & get it back to as new condition.
I love it.

Have fun, you've bought a great bike. :beerjug:

Enjoy your new bike! There's nothing like a brand new perfectly clean bike - but then it's nice to get it dirty too.

If you don't have a pillion, remove the rear seat and rack and mount a tailpack where the pillion seat should be -easier to get your leg over (so to speak).

hi, i think they stopped putting the stickers on the rear frame in 06, mines an 06 and hasn't any stickers

Thanks!

For all the coments so far! What's wrong with red? It matches my Skid-Lid! But seriously, I wanted a black one, but there is not too much choice at the moment - the dealer offered to spray black, but the bike would always be on the system as red! Waiting for a delivery from Nippy Normans as I speak: fenda-extenda, reyno grill cover, headlight protector and handguard spoilers. Bars, screen and seat position are next to do! I checked the pinch bolts and they were correct!

Thanks!!

The best colour!!! HIDS conversion for headlights, NN Hugger sprayed satin black and mounted properly (not as per the instructions) chuck that rubbish mud thingy off the back wheel, full Remus system with the K&N - perfect bike!!

Risers fit Ok (Mine are up and back from Nippy Norms) however my bike is also not the ABS model and I am told the lines are different lengths on the ABS bike. The job is pretty easy to do but to save scratches get someone to give you a hand.
For instructions on fitting do a search on the site there is plenty of help and pictures - most find you dont have to diconnect the lines just slide the fork legs down through the yokes.

Regards and enjoy

Arkwright - what do you do different from the instructions to fit the NN Hugger?

I would have thought that they would slip-in as they have done on previous GS's. I don't particularly want to mess around with the forks. I will be fitting Migsel straight risers, and normally have a couple of helpers hold the bars whilst I remove the bolts, slip-in the spacers and new bolts and torque-up. I am tall and don't feel I need the back as well as up, just the up will do for me.
Cheers

When fitting the NN Hugger I suggest

1. Spray with Satin black after light roughing up.

2. Put two small cutouts round where the rear brake hose guard mounts

3. Reuse the stainless torx bolts to mount to the back of the shaft drive

4. Very minor bending adjustments to themounting frame to prevent the occaisional rub on the back tyre which can occur otherwise

As for the stickers 07 bikes do not have them fitted, I asked my dealer to order me a pair until he told me they were £25

My 55 bike had the stickers - until the first time I jet washed it. Maybe that's why they don't bother now.
