New 2010 R1200 GS

I've done it!!

After a week of making my mind up, I have ordered my 2010 GS in Black with Premium and Dynamic packs. I can confirm that the panniers and top box go straight on and that the Akra pipe does not, but as someone has already pointed out the new pipe sounds good. The Migsel Sat nav mount also fits, but the BMW cylinder guards do not fit.

Dodged the snow and went for a test ride yesterday on a 2010 GS.

Compared to my 2005 model, the whole transmission is more refined (less clunky), throttle and clutch seem a tad lighter and fuelling near perfect even at low revs in a high gear, the motor seems just that bit zippier too, all very very nice indeed :-)

I have ordered the faster red one, but sticking to the base model with heated grips because I am not a fan of gizmos and ABS and hate those silly little LED indicators, they just look wrong to me.

Should take delivery at end of March/beginning of April :D

Also ordered a red one last week but quoted delivery last week in April. Standard bike ,lowered, heated grips, chrome pipes and cylinder head guards. Can't wait.;)

Hi all, I'm new to the forum, and new the the GS, I pick my 2010 up on the 4 of March. Hope is is as good as you all say.

First post

Well, its bye bye Harley Fatboy and hello GSA for me early next week..

An appropriate first post methinks.

Welcome to the site Kwakatony/Moley,

Good choice! :thumb2 If the '10 model is even a tiny bit better than my '05, it'll be brilliant.

Mine's not due to arrive until mid-April. Ever noticed how time stands still as soon as you order a new bike?

Hi everyone, new to the forum. I am due to order the 2010 GSA and i am stuck for colour. Does anyone have any details of which colour is best selling at the moment or shall we do a survey? appreciate your comments.

Hi Pavlos,

Picking mine up tomorrow and I've gone for grey as I heard from one dealer they are selling more grey than yellow (although two other dealers said it was almost 50/50). Slightly regretting it now though! The shade of yellow and the fact there isn't much of it on the bike makes it look great in my opinion. I would never buy a yellow car or all yellow bike for example!

Anyway, enjoy it!

I picked up my 2010 gsa ( grey ) well was yellow , but as there was only one in the country with the d/p packs and enduro box so had paper work and panels changed .
Rode the old 2006 gsa 500 miles from south west France to part ex it, picked the new one up at 4pm and had it back for the first service at 9am the next day then got the boat
Home .:D
So mind out you don’t buy a yellow one that was a grey one :thumb

Hi Shan

What made you choose the enduro box? And am I right in understanding that it is only first gear which is lower not the whole box?

The reason for my question is that I found that my 1150GS with standard box could not make a safe hillstart on e.g. Hardnott Pass in the Lake District (a 1:3 hill) two-up with luggage. I've improved matters by fitting a final drive from an 850GS which brings the gears down by 13% to what the 1150GSA enduro box gave. But this is at the expense of a seriously reduced top end.
