New Accelerator Module tested

Hi
I have not tried both modules BUT I noticed after years of posturing the Accelerator module now has an external temperature sensor the same as the booster plug always had.
I use the Booster plug and am very happy with it.

Thought i would give my feedback . Fitted my accelerator module while the snow was on the ground ,but finally got chance to test it out today. As most other treads say makes the bike a whole lot smoother especially at low speeds, and responds nice to throttle in 4th 5th and 6th at low revs , couldnt really monitor fuel consumption as i only covered about 100miles but first impressions of my £30ish purchase was good :thumb2 [ decat 1200gsa ]
 
Accelerator Module

Hi,

From what I have read on this thread, it seems that the Accelerator Module is more applicable to the newer GSA models and not the 1150GSA models is this correct? and also it is more applicable to bikes in countries where the temperature is hight say 30+ is this correct?

I came to the GSA after a series of Pans and a V-Strom, all more powerful bikes. While I quickly came to appreciate the GSA - especially the handling - I rued the lesser performance unless really working the motor and using the gearbox. ( Which I'm more than happy to do most of the time, but if you're not in that 'mode' then it can be rather wearing. )
The AM has made me feel I can overtake a bit easier, so thats a good thing, albeit a personal view. That's also why I was wondering if running the CCP with it would trick the clever bits in it into making it even better still.

I have succumbed to the temptation of the Accelerator Module on my 2010 GSA and just ordered one.

If nothing else it gives me, at a reasonable cost, the chance to see if running a richer mixture will make a significant difference.

If the answer is no, well then I've learned something without paying a fortune.

If the answer is yes, then it's possible I may wish to go further and consider the more expensive, complex, fully featured options but at least I'd feel slightly more comfortable in making the investment.
 
I'm gonna order one, as far as I'm concerned the low speed surging. Throttle on throttle off is downright dangerous riding through these traffic clogged streets. Great bike.....utter crap in heavy traffic, slipping the clutch, WTF is that all about...:mad:

If this doesn't work I'm flogging the bike & buying something more suitable...:rob

09 GSA + Acc. Mod + Remus headers + OEM/Akra can = smooth tractable low speed grunt and drive:bow, with no surging or having to slip the clutch.

Especially now the weather is warming up.:thumb

Update....

Yes, my low speed surging has reduced, much nicer to ride in stop/go/slow traffic... Well pleased.. :thumb

No......I don't have stock in the company, just passing on info on a product that does what it says..
 
boosterplug seems much more costly but appears to be the same item (a thermistor in series with the AIT sensor)

is there anything about it that justifies the price hike over a ACCEL PLUG?

In my opinion... Having tried both the Accelerator Module and Boosterplug, I’d say the main difference is in the build quality. The Booster plug has fully potted components and is very robust constructed.
 
I bought a booster plug yesterday. Wasn't expecting much but it is really good. As others have said, massive improvement in low end power delivery. Not more power, just delivers better and makes the low end torque very useable.

I think there is a lengthy topic on that very issue somewhere on the forum and the answer is it depends who you aks:

1. No (from the guy who developed the Accelerator Module)
2. Yes (From the bloke who developed the Boosterplug)

Accelerator module smoothed my bike out nicely and reduced the popping and banging by about 90%, I guess they both work and as well as making the bike nicer to ride should help prevent any possibility of the weak running causing valves to burn out / fall into the engine over the long term.

Would love a Hilltop remap, but this seems to do 50% of the job for 10% of the price.

If you have the accel module, and a multimeter, then it is simple to measure what it is, and then see where it is. I can't imagine there is another approach to this between the two suppliers:

At 20C ambients i measured:
between connectors on one cable: zero ohm
between connectors on other cable: variable from at least 6k (about 30C in the sun) to 24 kOhm (out of the freezer..)
between pins on connector A: 46 kOhm fixed
between pins on connector B: the 46 kOhm + the variable resistance above

So it as a variable NTC or PTC (or whatever you call these things) in one lead, and a 46k one between the leads. If you look into the connector with a good light you can see the two resistors (blue and brownish). I can't check more but take the setup results in minimal changes to the OEM sensor resistance below 0C, and the 20C difference above 0 C

No high tech circuit board, but well worth the money spend IMHO in case of the accel module. Understanding this, you might also realise making it switchable is not easy. You would need two switches thrown in sequence, to avoid signal loss (i think..)

I just did a track day on my 2010GS with the module in, and was pretty pleased;)
 
I have the extended Accelerator module for 05 R1200GS, does anyone know if this will work for my 2010 GSA?

My mate tried his Acc. from his 06 GS, on his new (then) 10 GS, but he said he didn't notice any benefit. so he removed it. :nenau
