New Akrapovic silencer

Has anyone out there had any experience with this type of Akrapovic can, there are a few different ones available for the 1200/1250 GS but this version specifically?
The reason I ask is that I attempted to install this on my 1250 last night and it does not quite line up with the mount on the subframe. I tried over and over, different angles, checked and re-checked the instructions. The OE headers on my bike are not bent/distorted/ damaged in any way. Basically the silencer does not slide over the outlet from the headers far enough for you to be able to get the bolt into the hanger on the subframe, it's about half a hole out, not a huge amount but enough to mean you cant install the bolt.
I could make it fit by trimming a couple of mm off my headers, but there's no way I'm doing that when my bike is still under warranty. Also, for what these things cost I shouldn't have to.
So, it's looking like a return and refund but there must be plenty of these out there already fitted to bikes so I'm interested to hear any feedback.

I must admit mine looks identical and I had no issues with fitting...in fact it took me literally minutes

Does it sound good? Is it much louder? I dont want to wind my neighbors up, I leave for work ridiculously early in the morning.

Nah its not that bad at all.....more of a deeper tone and does sound very nice when you use the quick shifter but not annoyingly loud

Excellent. I dont really want to be sending this back but if it doesn't fit then it's no use. Bad batch or something? It's like the inlet to the silencer narrows too soon, a couple more mm's and it would go on far enough for the hanger bolt to line up.

Not one for aftermarket can myself but a recent loan 1250 had one fitted. That ride home nearly cost me a grand, sounded lovely.

Why not ask them if the current exhaust wakes them? Anything aftermarket is normally louder. It’s nice when you have good neighbours. Best to look after them.

I've not seen that style Akra' end can before. Akrapovic quality is top drawer, so something isn't right & I definitely wouldn't go modifying anything. Probably a model mix up..

Is that not the can for a 1250r/rs or rt?
The gs can is the snake that's swallowed a rat shape.

No the part number seems right. I guess you might have to do some jiggling to get the hole to line up.

That definitely doesn’t look right.

If I am reading the instructions right, the mounting hole is not in the centre of the big rubber bush. You have to "Attach the aluminium washer from Akrapovič installation kit to the sleeve and rotate both, till bolt hole aligns with sub frame thread". Hope this helps. It's probably a tight fit and hard to rotate.

Correct. With the silencer I was sent it didn't line up no matter where you rotated it to.
I've returned it now anyway. To be fair they've been really good. We discussed it on the phone, I sent them pictures and they're happy to refund me.
I want to try another one, it was a work of art!
