I have just ordered a new battery for my R1200RT. The battery is the Exide 12v 19Ah Gel Type as per original. I have queried with the supplier, "MDS Battery" if the battery will be ready for use on arrival and they say it will need to be "fully charged". The only charger I have is my Optimate III SP.
Please can anyone advise if this is suitable and for how should I charge it.
Many Thanks.

Thank's for the info Wobble. Although this does seem to be a very "grey" area as there are lots of warnings on the net about using a dedicated "Motorcycle Charger" when first charging a new battery and that an ideal charge current is 2 amps. Yet when searching "Motorcycle Battery Charger" on google the only type that comes up are the Optimate long term maintenance type. I,m sure that dealer workshops don't use these. My Optimate III has a current output of 0.6 amps which if I understand correctly means it will take 31 hours to fully charge a 19 Ah battery.
