Well, technically it's tomorrow, but I need to vent off some of the excitement! ;) It's literally planes, trains and automobiles to get there - early morning flight, wee train journey and then pop into a taxi and drop into bristolsaint from this parish. All going to plan, after a good chat over a cup of tae, I will be astride a 2020 R1250GS Triple Black tomorrow afternoon. Then it's a wee bimble home with an overnight in Eastridge Glamping near Habberly, and then an early ferry from Holyhead. Weirdly the weather Gods have been kind - those sacrificial chocolate digestives really paid off!

Right, almost time to retire to the leaba - it's an early 4am start and lord knows I'm already well short on beauty sleep

It's coming up for 7am and Hatcho will be well on his way to buy my bike. We have had lots of WattsApp chat and what a bloody nice and trusting guy this is. I know he won't be disappointed. Those that know my bikes know they are well cared for, but also well ridden. My previous GS had 50k on the clock when I sold it, also here. This one was to be a keeper, but injury has put the kibosh on that. Hey, ho. There's time for another one should the brilliant NHS weave their magic. The NHS has certainly been brilliant for me, from paramedics, consultants, GPs, radiographers, all that have been taking care of me. No long waits for appointments and always helpful and encouraging.

Back to today. Hatcho will arrive at lunchtime. Kettle will be on. Bike outside, shining in the sun. Just need to delete my home address from the Nav. I'll suggest a 5 minute walk to the harbour for fish and chips to set him up for the ride back to the ferry and onwards. I'm not sad to see the bike go. It feels like it's going to a good home.

Travel safe, Hatcho and enjoy your new bike. I know I did.

Well what a day! Early start to catch my flight to Southampton, then onto the train and finally a taxi ride to meet up with bristolsaint. What a gentleman to deal with! Tea proffered as promised 👍, then loads of cuddles with a super friendly doggie. All topped off with a stroll down the village to be treated to some yummy fish and chips. 😊 Champion! Back to the house for another brew and sort the formalities. Not long after, I was on the move. Bike is beyond awesome! Lively, smooth, comfy and fun! Most excellent.

So now I'm near to Shrewsbury staying in a glamping pod. Early start around 5am to catch the 9am ferry from Holyhead.

There's a big grin living on the front of my face! 😊

Cheers all - much appreciated! Just rolled into Holyhead and more specifically, McDonald's for breakfast. Porridge with jam no less, they are getting very high falutin' these days. And coffee thank god! I am now alive again!View attachment 348298
Making the ferry ....safe & on-time is a fantastic feeling.
(followed by the much needed feeding frenzy)

You need to do a cheeky "plate swap" and bring that black beauty to Leenane on Friday

Well wear Sean

Enjoy the new bike, looks great. I've got the same model and you wont be disappointed.

You’ll have to let us know how much to clear (PM if you like). I thought UK vehicle was not viable with with VRT taxes and customs. Except NI stuff pre 2021.

Great bike collection story. I had exactly the same feeling in 2012 when I flew to Limoge to collect my 1989 R100GS. It's a great way to collect a bike.
