I bought one of these at the end of last week, perfectly happy with it, fits the bike correctly and looks to do what it needs to, the only problem is, the map case is flat and just so damn shiny, riding in the middle of the day it's just painfully bright if the sun reflects off it and up into your face.

Never had this problem with the older ones, the plastic didn't seem that shiny and the top was curved so less chance of reflecting

I don't want to mess it up in anyway or damage the waterproofing, but is there anything I can do to remove the gloss?

I'm going to try a ball in the map case, hopefully that will do enough to change the profile... just wondering if anyone else has a better solution?

Probably a bit extreme but you could always move to Scotland, then you'll only experience that problem once a year!:thumby:

My suggestion would be to try a piece of matt finish prtotective film - the stuff thats available for protecting Ipad and laptop screens. Thi sis usually ant-relective and might do the job. Alternatively, I would knock it back by gently rubbing very fine steel wool over the surface - OOOO grade wool is easily available and, used with a little soapy water, would remove the surface shine without any damage. In fact, I reckon this would be a better solution!

Or eev better, sell that one on the forum and buy yourself a WOLFMAN tank bag. LOADS better, removable map case, and better looking IMHO!!

Well I'm pleased to say a squishy ball did the trick, it's deflected the top enough that it's not one big mirror

Thanks for the suggestions though, I was thinking of attacking it with something slightly abrasive, but figured I've only got one shot at that...

RichieS, I've already blown nearly 40 quid in shipping on another Tank Bag that is supposed to fit, but doesn't, I kind of agree with you on the BM one, but at least I know it is designed to fit right.
