new cf card problems

now then,

just bought a kingston 2gb cf card, put it in the 2610 and loaded all the maps, when it had finished all the maps were there.

when i turned it off and back on again the sat nav says no maps available !!

tried it all again and another 4 hours later the same thing !!

i have loaded the maps onto my old 1gb card and it all works fine so i know the unit is working ok

I did check the card at work today and the maps etc all seem to be loaded onto the card, just the unit doesnt recognise it

anyone any ideas whats up - do i need to format it first or summit like, if so I guess i will need a card reader to format the card. never formatted a cf card before is it straight forward ??

I had a similar problem, I borrowed a USB card reader and used windows to format the card to "FAT" (NOT FAT32) format. You just right click on the drive icon in Windows explorer and choose format. This solved it for me, worth a try.
