New computer....email issues....

OK, my mate has bought a new lappy, running windows 7, and as I understand it, he is struggling to configure 'Live Mail....I reckon augie) someone here will be able to help...

This is a direct cut 'n' paste of his email to me (sent on his old PC)




Hi,

I have imported all the email account details and contacts details from Outlook Express on my original machine to Windows Live Mail on my laptop

I can now receive mail but if I try to send mail I get this.

These are the details of the error message :-


The connection to the server has failed

Subject 'Sodding Computer '
Server. 'smtp.tiscali.co.uk'
Windows Live Mail Error ID:0x800CCC0E
Protocol: SMTP
Port :25
Secure(SSL) : No
Socket Error 10060



Anyone any experience of this issue?.....We would be very grateful for any assistance....

is this over a few days or few hours. Could simply be that their server is down for bit. If its over a few days then most likely the export has messed up the passwords. Tell him to reset his password for the SMTP settings in Live mail.

you may have to try a different port, try using 110 instead of 25......

110 is pop3 so it definitely wont be that. Going by Talk Talks site its the standard 25.
