New discs under warranty but...

hi gs, can you tell me how old your bike was at 18000mls.
my bike just failed its first mot at 16000mls and i had to get both
front discs replaced. very costly item!!!!

Had mine replaced free at 20000 miles when bike failed MOT for run out on the front disc's. Pads also renewed. That was last September when the bike was 4 year old. Owned from new and serviced by BM.

many thanks for that quick reply. I did explain to the service manager
that I thought it was unreasonable that the bike failed the mot
because of the discs, but they are not willing to budge. Considering
I bought the bike from new and they do all the sevicing I dont know what my next
move should be. I'm out of pocket about £400. Any sugestions.

If the dealer are unwilling to do anything then it will be BMW (GB) who you will need to contact next.

over the last few years I have had a number of discs changed under warranty , on servo bikes becouse they eat rear discs and on an RT 2 sets of front discs before they realized that the mounting pionts on the wheel were not true and changed the wheel and the discs again.

but the pads have always been replaced in some cases at only a few weeks old and I have never been asked to pay for them.

your dealer is avin a larf.

I love this forum, I do

Thanks for all the replies. It's BMW who have suggested that I pay for the pads, not my dealers, but I now have good evidence to push my case.

TVM everyone - that's £120 to the good I reckon.

Virtual :beer:on me.

Thanks for all the info - feel more confident to puch for pads to be included in the warranty claim.

If you're taking in to Lind I'm sure that Phil will push your case, they are a little bit inexperienced in warranty claims as they haven't been open that long. However given the nature of the machines they are selling that is sure to change in a very short space of time!

wht not buy some EBC or similar which are a lot cheaper thean the BMW ones and fit them, just consider it an upgrade, (check E-bay if you can't be bothered to search)
after buying BMW rear pads for mine because i noticed they were almost down to metal when i replaced the rear tyre for nearly £30 a set i will go for a different make next time.
