For those that have received new engines from BMW under warranty. Do BMW pay for the running in service and what happens to the service schedule, is it from the new engine or the bike ie 6000 miles from fitting the engine?
To echo Nice'n'Fat, based on my previous experience, yes, the 600 mile service is paid for. I'm assuming that will be the case when my current claim gets sorted out.
If it's not too delicate or under an NDA, what's happened to your engine?

Not at all. It's the 853cc in a 750 (but many more new engines in 1200 hence this section). Was noisy and received a new cam chain and tensioner and valve clearance checks. Still noisy so BMW ordered a new modified Head but when old one was removed, marks were found on the bores. BMW then authorised a complete engine. Both dealer (CW) and BMW have been great at sorting this out.

Yep, Ian called - just as NnF said, the initial Oil and Filter change is paid for and the bike retains its service schedule as per the Odometer and Annual services. The bike is now around 4k so will have two oil changes in quick succession which I guess isn't such a bad thing
