Well, I'm having a new engine fitted next week. The paint has started to fail on this one and BMW have agreed to replace it with a new one.
It's 4 months over it's 24 month warranty and they've asked me to contribute towards the fitting cost of the new engine. Does this mean that there is now a warranty with that engine as there's been a contribution to the cost ? Or no because it's a contribution only to the fitting?

Interestingly, after reading another thread on here about new engine colours, I asked for a Black engine to replace the Silver, but they refused and would only supply Silver.

if you contribute i sure you get a 2 year warrenty, pay the contribution on a credit card also

2 year warranty if you contribute, even if it's only one hrs labour however read there small print because it may not cover corrosion.

As far as I'm aware, so long as you contribute to the cost, then a new warranty is implied.
They could, of course, just refund your contribution at some stage in the future as they're not going to replace engines indefinitely.
I don't believe it matters if you contribute to the parts or the fitting.

As above ... you make a contribution (however small) and the warranty remains with you

I'm not surprised they will not give you a replacement engine in a different colour as this would take the bike away from the manufacturers original spec. On the subject of colour. The colour of the engine coating has fuck all to do with whether or not your motor will corrode

Thank you for your informative reply !
My bike is Black, so I thought a Black engine would suit it .....:comfort
