Hi all

The down pipes on my GS1200 Adventure have take a bit of punishment and have some nasty dents. I was gonna replace them with the Remus pipes without the Cat. While I am at it is it worth changing the can. Ive looked on Nippy's and seen the Akrapovic and Remus cans. The price difference is quite a bit.

Any recomendations would be appreciated as I am going to order the stuff in the morning.

Regards

do you find the bike runs just as well with the powercone or would it need adjusted?

David,
To be honest I haven't noticed a great difference, still get around 240kms to a tank before the amber warning light comes on. Even if it did drink a bit more, the noise and occasional backfire on runover is well worth it! :mcgun

sorry andy but I was asking about the performance through the rev range, not about fuel economy! I should have made that clearer! Did you stick with standard downpipes and cat? Would vario panniers still fit ?

and is your youtube video with or without the baffle? And FINALLY, is the baffle held in place with a bolt or with pop rivets?

Ahh well another great wad spent.

KAN-BM1204 K & N AIR FILTER
Akrapovic silencer-Titanium sleeve AND intern

Peter,

Good to speak to you earlier. Cash coming your way to help soften the blow of the cost of your exhaust, suspention and filter..... in exchange for your sargent seat :bounce1

See you later in the week,

Simon

Yeah, they do seem to "absorb" money.

You've got me thinking now, mentioning Llangollen. Was planning a trip to the Lakes that weekend with a mate. But am now in discussions with him about Wales.... So you never know..

See you tomorrow..

David, I was talking about both performace and fuel economy, no real difference to be honest. I only added the powercome without baffle (yes, the video is without the baffle. When it is fitted, it is held in conveniently by about a 40mm internal circlip which I always carry along with the baffle to fend off the rather sensitive hearing Polizei!), kept the original downpipes and cat and yes, in fact there is more room than standard when vario panniers are fitted. Hope this helps - Andy

thanks Andy - much appreciated! i only ask about the panniers because I notice that in touratech's catalogue they recommend an exhaust extension when using BMW panniers. One last question - what year is your 12GS?

Extension

David,
My bike's a june 2005 and the Remus Powercone Titanium came with an extension. It clamps on immediately behind the cat using the same clamp and the end can is attached using the 2x supplied spring clips.

All the best - Andy
