Really liking it still.....shame it's a chain drive, but that could be a genuine RTW ideal bike......smaller and lighter yet plenty powerful enough for the purpose.

May well be my next bike - much more suited to RTW. I had an 800GS on loan & Was perfect for the southern african jaunt. They take a beating and 8000k off road had no adverse effect at all. Plus the fuel consumption.

But the main thing is I can hold it up when it goes out of sorts - with the 1200GSA or 1150GSA I just have to let it go.

I would say chain and sprockets probably better in the long run for RTW - at least you can fix them and with a good scot oiler they should last 20-30k anyway.

Threw me leg over one at dealers yesterday...... fek me there a tall bike....unless of course it was,nt a standered seat..:nenau

There tall alright. 890 mm seat height. But didn't feel much if any higher than my own 800 with the comfort seat.
Will be able to give a proper comparison after a test ride at the weekend

Spent 2 days on one and 500 mile.

The riding position works for me and I thought the seat was quit comfortable.

The screen is good. Every bit as good as if not better than the 12gs screen but not as good as the 12gs adventure.

It feels slightly lower than a 12 adventure but only slightly. It's probably the same hight but its thiner so I could get my feet on the ground better. It feels a lot lighter than the 12 adventure.

It will happily cruise at legal speeds and beyond.

It's a really nice bike.

The seats are 10mm higher, same seat attached that is :D.

obviously the whole is bigger, wider, heavier etc like you would expect of a adv spec :D

10mm is nothing for the well heeled :blast

Interesting too hear about seat comfort. That is one bit I hoped bmw would have got right this time.

I agree with all above, :thumbjust found it a little vibratory on the bumb and hands, but a surprisingly good ride and i covered 115mile sin Lincs finest today...
got back on my 1200 GSA and it was defo nicer..:thumby:

Was really dissapointed in the quality of my ex-F800GS, had lots of issues with it. Combined with a painful seat, I decided to part with it.

This bike could pull me back to the 800 section again though, I'm gonna do a testride whenever I get the possibility. I just hope they've not used the same lousy wheel bearings, and other rotten parts to put it together

Grtz, Philip!

Got it

Picked up my new baby today loved the ride home can't wait for more.
All thanks to Ryan at piddy's top man.

Paul.

Ps how do I post pics on here?:JB

Magic. Lets see it. Only just found out how too post pics myself. U have too save them to somewhere like photobucket then transfer them to this website. Am sure someone will be along soon that knows how to do it
By your name ,did u move down from a 1200? Be keen to know what u make of the seats comfort

Had a leg over one at Ryders this morning.

Main impression was just how wide it is at the back - add some decent panniers and there will be no chance of filtering in Lahore!! Seriously, it is about as wide as you would want without any panniers added.

I'll ride one back to back with the 1200GSA LC next year and chose one of the two.
