New Final Drive Fitted, With Lower Drain Plug

Yesterday had a new final drive fitted to my 06 1200SA and guess what it had the drain plug fitted on the bottom. The service manager said its ths first he's seen.


So perhaps the 08 1200Gs and GSA will be fitted with them as standard

Probably..................that's why I think about which bike to buy before parting with the dosh

I've bought one of the last 1150Adv's and one of the last 1100GS's.............so hopefully all the kind owners throughout the model cycle have done the R&D for BMW and it's as good as it's going to get

Never rush in..............where Angels fear to tread

i'm an Airhead luddite paranoid tightwad (wot?... at least i'm honest )
that does most of their own mechanicing -

i know of a nice 1100GS for sale. i could get it for only a little more than my R100gs is worth.
i'm tempted to come over to the dark (oilyheaded) side.
but put off by the thought i may end up with more trouble than its worth.

at least i know (mostly) how to fix an Airhead / but am i missing out on a potentially good newer Bike?

Don't forget to change the oil in the FD at 600 miles
