Had an off last year, BMW replaced the left fork. (june 08)

Riding back from Dartmoor I noticed something was wrong, when breaking it felt like a puncture. Checking everything was Ok so I was a bit puzzled. Eventually after having a good look, I noticed the left, new replaced fork, and was moving around at the seal. Oil was also leaking. I phoned BMW and booked it in, they have ordered new parts, but my question is this: the new fork has failed after only one thousand miles. So, could it mean that either the fork stanchion or headstock is twisted and this has worn the fork?

I would have thought BMW would have checked that all was square and correct :nenau

I will now be worrying that it will fail again in another thousand miles ? :(Or its just unlucky and it will be OK:)

Something wrong when they rebuilt it or the stanchion was bent, which they missed?
