Hi,
Saturday I fitted a new fuel filter to my 850GS.
When riding it, if I open the throttle it feels like I'm running out of petrol, that is it starts to die but then picks up and there is a tiny amount of hunting; but it's mainly when I reach for the throttle.
The filter I've had for a couple of years and it is dated 2005.
The filter was provided by the previous owner as a spare and it certainly looked new.
Any suggestions?
I can't see how I could have kinked the line.
Possibly a breather pipe might be kinked, but there are two of them.
Anything else I might have missed?
I didn't need to replace the clips on the filter as it slid off. Could this be the reason, a leak?
Cheers

Filter

Probably hose coming off the filter, these need to be tight hence the clips,
did you put it in round the right way?. Have it out and check the hoses al the hoses went back correctly?.

new fuel filter problem

Hi Dave,

Yup, that's going to be Saturday's job.
I think I'll be using new jubilees and possibly overkill, I'm going to replace the filter again, as the one I fitted had been sitting around.

Was it a geniune part fitted? If it was, i can check if its the right one for the bike. PM me the part number and your chasis number and i will check for you. I work at a MINI dealer but i have access to the Mottorad EPC.

Thanks Guys,

Bike running pretty good now.
I did purchase a new filter from Motobins.
After my initial trip to the petrol station, it started missing, but I put that down to possible airlock due to new filter.
As it happened the next day as well, I thought there was more to it.
But, now it seems to have virtually sorted itself.
Still a slight problem but I'll see how it goes.
Let's not mention the fact that I think my petrol light doesn't now seem to work ::)
Cor, I could be very tempted to miss the filter out and put an inline one on the right of the bike behind the cover :)
Cheers

I would be tempted to have another look at the hose clips anyway. If one is loose & it comes off when you are out in the wilderness some day, you will be in trouble.

Cheers Mototech,

Tank comes off tomorrow as long as the weather holds: no garage
