Did the same - was disappointed to find not much dirt & grime inside at all![]()
Doesn't take much, just a speck of grit in the wrong place.
Put it all back together - bingo - working fine![]()
Replacement on hold for another 6 years hopefully![]()
For core sat nav functionality without the bells and whistles they're a damn fine GPS, probably more robust than any of the Zumos I'd wager. Won't be selling mine any time soon.
Now - to get my maps updated from City Navigator v6![]()
As it runs non NT mapping you're out of luck I'm afraid. Current NT mapping wont work on a 2610 and Garmin wont release you an unlock code for 2009 which was the last version that would work with that model.
You might want to give OpenStreetMap a try though, free and more comprehensive than the Garmin mapping and, I'm pretty sure, it'll work on your 2610. There might be a few oddities but I'm impressed with what I've seen of it so far. I've downloaded Southern UK and a chunk of Northern France and will be trying it out, in comparison to the latest 2012.40 Garmin mapping, over the next few months.

and since no one has mentioned it ....
