new GS LC hilltop motorcycles

Had mine done a while back and completely transforms the bike, no flat spots at all, runs smoothly across the entire range and pulls like a train.. Best £250 i've spent!!

Surprised no one has posted try using the search, :p quite a few threads on Hill Top

Yeah and this one is from 3 years ago so it's one of the "quite a few" you mentioned....

I brought it back to life to ask a specific question to a specific user I could not PM. Does that meet with your approval?

2017 GSA LC. TI Akra headers and BMW Akra end can.

Tell me Hilltop doesn't get more power.

I had my 2017 Hill topped quite a few weeks back not had time to ride since, but today took it out, for a proper ride, it certainly is much smoother and quicker, especially from low down, another big difference is before Hill Top dynamic mode engine mapping I found at low revs little jerky, hunting a little, at low revs riding in town etc. to the point I would go back to Road mode, after Hill top, Dynamic is smooth as silk at all revs in all conditions, so could easily just leave it in dynamic all the time.

Hi Phil

The negative spike at approx. 4800rpm on the BHP & torque lines... was there an explanation or supposition given for this occurrence?

I would guess there are tests performed in that range regarding fuel/emissions - no one in their right mine would want a graph like that, and it's not the first one I've seen with that dip either.

That's euro 4 regs for you. Euro 3 regs gave better fuelling and didn't have that big dip.

No such dip on the Euro 4 KTM 1290s, which pull like mad from tickover all the way to the redline - and knock out 160BHP at peak, even my 1190 pulls like mad from about 3,000 rpm with no dips. Must be something to do with the Boxer Design that is causing BMW so many issues with the new regs....

....and obviously the BMW workaround is more than fuelling as the remap is unable to cure it fully.

A friend of mine with a 1190 after 3 GSs says the fuelling is not as good as the GS.
Geoff at hilltop says the 1290 can be greatly improved.
Believe what you need to.

No... but you really don't notice it at all. Power delivery is silky smooth and noticeably higher

Hopefully you don't notice the dips anymore because they are no longer there - at least they don't seem to be present on the "after" traces shown in blue on the graph. In contrast the dips are present and quite severe on the "before" traces shown in red.

I would be keen to get a smoother power delivery without the dips, which would be of benefit all the time, and would also like a smoother on/off throttle transition - can anyone comment on whether the HT treatment improves this aspect? I would be less bothered about an increase in max power which is probably not going to be that significant very often in real world use - at least not for me.

My bike has super smooth on/off throttle, the dip in torque after 5000rpm is noticable if you roll on from that figure. the bikes seem to vary a bit in detail of the power/torque curves but not by much, mine is slightly smoother than the above. The most noticable improvements are smoother running everywhere, much more torque in the lower/mid range and a couple of extra mpg, probably because of this, and you can normally pull a gear higher than before.

That sounds good, and the slight fluctuations in torque on the after graphs don't seem too significant compared to the massive glitches at around 4800 rpm on the original map. Might have to think about getting it done.

Just had mine done today - 25/09/17 - 100 miles back in mixed weather and traffic, seams smoother for the most part, less judder at low revs in low gears, just feels nicer to ride. Looking at the graphs it's about a 10% increase for both torque and power across the majority of the range on my bike. No real info. on MPG as traffic was terrible, so not a good comparison as I spent a lot of time a 50mph - but at a guestimate I'd say it's got slightly better, certainly not any worse. Who would believe you can get almost 90mpg sitting on the M6 at 50mph on cruise for nearly 20 miles? :thumby:

Very similar results to me, dynamic mode is now very lively :)

Proves I need new tyres ;)

Nice meeting you today Andy.

I didn't try anything other than ROAD and RAIN on the way home, I'll give DYNAMIC a whirl on a better day.

James
