hi all, like half , i am toying with buying a GS, got a test ride booked for next monday on a 1200.
the important thing for me is comfort, i need the low seat, being just a bit taller than a midget, the big thing is i have just had a hip replacement (too many cbr wrecks) and can no longer fold myself into a sportsbike, so the upright position feels good.
whats it like for all day riding?

cheers guys

So THATS wot GS stands for. Geriatric Substitute. No wonder BWMs get their old fashioned image. To old or infirm ? ...buy a GS.
I wondered why everyone Ive met among this lot are limping, stooping and misshapen.
They cant fit on anything else !

A mate and I did just under 200 miles in one hit no problem. The seat and riding position are perfect for me, no pain in the wrists or lower back. Bum was fine again having filled up with gas (the fuel tank that is!) we did another 120 miles. I had an RT before and the footpegs were too high which made my knees ache like hell after an hour.

Seat height with the standard seat is fine for me with my midget 30" inside leg. :D

steady on den, less of the geriatric. i thought being over 40 was a pre-requisit to owning a bm.
anyway ,sounds as though i would fit in with all the lame and infirm.:P

Don't forget to try an ADV as well.......I'm not going to say why, cos it's so old now when it all kicks off, but seriously, give both a go and go with whichever one turns you on most.

Whichever one, welcome to the nuthutch and have a read through the forum....you'll soon discover the stereotypical image of the BWM owner isn't something that any of us subscribe to ;)

thanks fanum.. figured you're all a bunch of nutters anyway,
tried sitting on the adv, but feet miles off floor, even with lower seat unit

i do prefer the look of the adv, bit more attitude. whichever way, just gotta get head round spending all that money on a bike.

the forums have given me a laugh over the last couple of days.
