Back in the spring, I test rode a couple of v85TT’s, but couldn’t put the deal together in time to go to Ireland, so I went on my R1200RT instead. Fast forward 6 months, a Goldwing has replaced the RT, and I thought the v85 was a missed chance. A couple of days ago, I spotted an ex demo red and white TT at a healthy discount from list price, and against all logic, did the deal! No pockets in shrouds, so I’m told…

I take delivery in the new year, but before then I’m planning a couple of sensible additions. I’m going to put the Caponord front mudguard on - is there a good place to buy a decent one in the UK?

Also, does anyone know who makes the TT Travel hard luggage? I might put hard bags on it, and they seem to fit well etc.

I might also put a hugger on the back. Is the Pyramid one any good?

Thanks chaps

I bought a TT Travel in March. The side cases say Made in Italy with no other identifying marks. The don't look like Givi items. The latches are very different but I like that it is not just a key operated lock. You can leave them unlocked as the other latches keep them shut. as I found when one of the locks disassembled itself as the only mounting screw inside the box is very short.

Does the red/white version come with the mounting kit, which is a style I have not seen before? This works well. The boxes are very easy to fit or remove.

Personally, if I had not bought the Travel version I would have bought some Givi mounts as I have some Givi E21 Monokey boxes which are my preferred option. I have fitted a Givi topbox adapter so I can use my ancient E45 topbox.

Interesting info, thanks. I did wonder if they would be rebadged Givi bags. The red & white bike comes with the rack, but no pannier mounts.
Plan a is to buy a rh mount for a Unit Gerage soft bag that I already have, and a Shad top ox mount to suit the box that I’ve just bought for my new Goldwing.

I always thought it was Givi that made the hard bags. I've actually bought them twice. Good quality no problems, equally think the pyramid stuff is good.

not sure what hard bags are (is it a make?) but the TT parked next to my Triumph Tiger in Inverness looked to have very similar boxes to mine. Mine were Triumph branded but appeared to be made by GIVI.

Yes, Triumph are Givi, although they alter the mounting points slightly so standard Givi stuff does not fit. I had to drill the topbox plate on my Explorer to move the triangular shaped wedge to use my E45 box.
The outside moulding of the TT panniers does mimic the Trekker boxes but it is the latching mechanism they use that is very unlike anything Givi makes. Googling says Guzzi make their own boxes which fits with the design looking unique.

I am fairly sure Guzzi / Piaggio make the OEM V85TT Travel panniers in house, that also seems to be the case with the OEM panniers for the Mandello / Stelvio.

I know Shad, Hepco & Becker also make OEM kit for Guzzi, and MyTech make their aluminium panniers for the Adventure V85TT

My V7's OEM rack actually has a small Hepco label someone must have slipped up and forgotten to remove, and if you look at pictures, they are identical.

If yours is an E5+ model some of the parts I have for sale may not fit, others will. Do your research or ask.

I’ve a Capo front mudguard I could remove from my bike and sell to you. But they are (were) cheap enough so get a new one. Gutsibits is a good source, but as it’s an Aprilia part your Guzzi dealer should be able to get one.

I also fitted a pyramid rear hugger. It’s a faff to to fit - heat up the casing of the shaft /FD interface to 200c or something to soften the thread lock, and then the fitting on the other arm of the swing arm was awakward too. Plus it’s showing signs of wear (thinning) after about 25,000 miles. Mine is staying on when I sell the bike.

Luggage. Try MyTech in Italy for standard hard bags. I’ve some Bumot aluminium cases for sale but I’m not sure that the pannier frames fit the E5+ models.

Mistral Carbon End can. £300

Mistral Velocity Stack & K&N air filter £150
(If I can easily remove them from the bike Mistral big bore headers and decat Y piece + V twin boost could be available too. The lambda sensors did not want to easily undo last time I tried but I’ve been adding some releasing oil to the threads and will have another go shortly). I’ll put a price on these if when I remove them.

SW Motech pro side carrier. Not the cheapest but decent quality and they do adapter kits for most of the major luggage manufacturers.
